Hi all, apologies me again, I have been trying to find out how to gain a visa extension (I’m from UK and on 30 day visa). All I could find was extending for tourism purposes but is the tourist visa not the 60 day one?

I have plenty of time to extend (over 2 weeks) but we hope to be on the move down south. We didn’t know if it was best to do in Bangkok as we have 2 days here, or is it possible to do down south? Our next stop would be Hua Hin then Koh Samui. I see there are immigration offices - is it possible to extend this type of visa there? Are print shops/photo shops readily available? Or is it best to get prints/photos done in Bangkok?

Any advice would be fab - thanks so much

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around extending a 30-day visa for tourists in Thailand. A user from the UK seeks advice on where to extend their visa, preferably in Hua Hin or Koh Samui, and asks about necessary documentation, like TM30 and photos required for the extension. The community provides detailed information on the process, requirements, and locations for extensions, emphasizing that extensions can be done at immigration offices in various regions including Hua Hin and Bangkok. The required fee is generally 1900 THB and nearby print/photo shops can assist in obtaining necessary documents.

Thanks! So glad to know it can be done in HH easily.

So if my 30 days visa exemption expire on 1 April, and I will be in HH from 26 March...how many days in advance of 1 April should I apply for the extension?

TIA!

@Mikaela *****
go on the Monday. Basement level at Bluport shopping centre. They open at 11 but you can go earlier. Make sure you get a ticket from the machine to get your place in the queue. Extension costs 1900 baht

Thanks!

So Monday 28 March. Will the extension then be 30 days from 28 March or from 1 April?

I will also need to quickly figure out how and when to apply for edu visa afterwards. πŸ˜…

So grateful for this group. I would be completely lost without all the input here.

@Mikaela *****
extension will be from the 1st

You usually get a 30 day extension with every immigration .. after this 30 days you can possibly get a covid 60 day extension, but not with every immigration. just go there and ask what you need you can also apply two or three weeks in advance

Hi did this a week ago. We tried to extend for 60 days but they wouldn't let us.

You need a TM6 which they will give you in the building.

We never got asked for our T30 bit I would try and get one just in case.

You can print copies of your passport and get photos taken at the ground floor of the office.

Make sure you don't go to division 1 as that is where Google told us to go bit we then got sent to Muang Thong Thani immigration bureau.

You get TM6 on third floor.

You can get TM30 on 2nd floor.

Photos and copies ground floor

Be advised they stop working between 1pm and 2pm for lunch πŸ€™

Hi, thanks Andrew. I think we are going to try and do this in Hua Hin as we have more time there than Bangkok. Please can I ask what actually is a TM30 - confused on what this is? Do I just ask hotel for copies of it to fill out? Thanks 😊
Andrew ******
@Jodie *****
to be honest I'm not 100 percent sure. I think it is just a confirmation from your hotel that you are staying there with them.

The office in bangkok took details of our hotel that we gave them and just made one up 🀷

I have heard it is slightly different in other provinces and as far as I am aware bangkok is the worst 🀣

You may have an easier time πŸ‘

A person can acquire a 30 day extension of stay based on tourism from a 30 day visa exempt. You will need the following documents:

1. Your passport and:

a. a copy of your data ("picture") page

b. a copy of your most recent visa (if you have one)

c. a copy of your most recent stamp

d. a copy of your departure card

2. A TM30, filed in the immigration office.

3. The forms (each immigration office may have different forms, and want to use their special forms)

4. 2x passport pictures

5. 1,900 THB processing fee.

You can file it at Bangkok (Muang Thong Thani), or Hua Hin. I do not believe Blueport processes the extension of stays, and you will have to go to the main immigration office in Prachuap Khiri Khan.

>Are print shops/photo shops readily available?

There should be print or photo shops close to the immigration office. I know some immigration offices (Nakhon Pathom) has them, but are very very expensive. I know there are a few copy shops in Hua Hin, but I don't know further south.

,

Thank you for the above. πŸ˜ŠπŸ™

Can I check if I need to pre-book any appointment to do my visa exemption extension? Or just walk into Thai Immigration Bureau Muang Thong Thani with my documents?

The TM30 should be submitted automatically when you book into a hotel room. You will use one of the following three proofs of submitting a TM30 at the local immigration office. The top proof is proof if the property owner submitted the TM30 in person, the middle one is if they used the internet system, and the bottom one is if they used one of the applications.

You may need to show them the screenshot and ask them to print it out for you.

if I am doing this in Hua Hin, do I wait to fill this out until I get there? What happens if you are going to multiple places? Really confused 😒
Garrett ***********
@Jodie *****
A Tm30 is required anytime a foreigner sleeps at an accomodation (law says 24 hours). Hotels, guest houses, family and friends are all supposed to submit one when a foreigner stays at their address. In practice hotels are the main ones who submit them though.

When you go to immigration for an extension, they need to see proof (a recipt or screen shot of an online submission) that a tm30 has been filed for you, meaning your address has been filed with immigration. If you're staying at a hotel, just ask them for a screenshot or print out.

thanks so much. Is it just the hotel I’m staying at at the time of applying for an extension? Or do I need these for hotels I stayed at prior/in the future? Thank you
Garrett ***********
@Jo***
Just where you're staying at the time, and realistically as long as you have one in the same province as the immigration office you're apply at it doesn't matter. You could have a Tm30 from 5 years ago, as long as it's included with your application that's all they care about.
Maarten ****
@Garrett **********
but what happen if I had a long term rental with airbnb?
Garrett ***********
Maarten NG Ask the host for a TM30. Law requires ANYONR hosting a foriegner for more than 24 hours to file a TM30.

@Jodie *****
You can fill it out the day before you apply and use the hotel your staying at as the residence.

Crazy but may not even need it all immigration offices seem to think differently. I took mine (TM38 in my case as I own my condo) for visa extension and they handed it back and said not needed. So maybe they look it up on the computer systems I am not sure
Wayne *********
@Jodie *****
if you ash the hotel for a copy they will know it as TM38 as they do it online they can not print it but can screen shoot it.

MTT Immigration office has a coping shop on the ground floor if you go to MTT
