Can someone advise best way to extend normal tourist 30day visa by another 30 days ,, if not near immigration office, we have spoken to our hotel and they have filling in I think a form 38 online but from what we understood it was just saying when we arrived and when we have to leave !! Rather than actually extending our stay by another 30 days !! Any help / advice would be very much appreciated as we were told the hotel could do it but don’t know if they have or not as we have not paid anything or have any kind of confirmation

TLDR : Answer Summary
To extend a normal 30-day tourist visa in Thailand by an additional 30 days, you typically need to visit the nearest immigration office. It's commonly understood that extending a visa cannot be processed online; while hotels might assist with some paperwork such as the TM30 form (required for reporting your accommodation to authorities), they generally do not handle visa extensions directly. You will need to bring specific documents including your passport, proof of arrival, and the TM30 registration from your hotel. The fee for extending your stay is around ฿1,900 THB. Note that there are special instructions regarding applications for COVID extensions, which may be available until early 2022. If getting to a larger immigration office is difficult, smaller offices might have limited capabilities, so confirming ahead is advisable.

a copy paste from my post 3 days ago:

Hi All,

Yesterday I Extended my stay (30 additional days) at the Chang Mai immigration, this is the order in which I did things:

*Prep at home:*

1. Copy of passport

2. Copy of the Thai stamp of arrival (inside your passport)

3. Copy of TM6 (you get this on the aeroplane/ when you arrive at customs to complete- they tear half of it and you must keep the other part)

4. TM 7 Extension of Stay completed

5. a Passport Photo

6. 1900 TBH

7. TM 30 this is the one that seems to trip people up on the day!!! this is when your Hotel/ Airbnb Hist must legally check you in onto the Thai Government system. You will need a print out of this for Immigration. they will then write out a smaller slip which is part in parcel of your application. There is a TM30 form but they did not need that, proof of registration is what will get you that slip.

*On the day: *

8. You should get a number at the entrance this is for your application process at the prep tent

9. First thing is go straight to the office around the back that will process the TM30 for you- give them the copy of your registration as per your Hotel/ Airbnb host (step 7) they will give you that little slip, get it photocopied next door.

10. Return to the prep Tent and complete Acknowledgement of overstay (form is there, but if you can print from internet that will make your more prepared)

11. STM 2 (form there) can’t remember the detail of this form

12. Initial all pages you have prepped

13. Wait at chairs and wait for your number to be called out (step 😎

14. They check that all your docs are in order for final finale.

15. Go to the main building here they will tell you which counter to go to.

16. Go to that counter, pay monies and give them your pack.

17. Sit down - you almost there!

17. They will call you to take a photo

18. Tadaaaaa! Passport contains updated stamp ✅

took just under 2 hours, could have been 30mins if I knew the sequence and order

(my step 8, 10 and 11 was the time wasters)

Hope this is helpful, good luck!

You can go to your nearest immigration office pay ฿1,900 thb to get a 30 day extension…if you have already had your 30 day extension go to the nearest immigration office and apply for the 60 day COVID extension this extension is on the books until 25 Jan 22 and it may be extended again…good luck all extensions need to be completed at the immigration office if you get a visa you have to leave country and apply at a Thai consulate/embassy

The form they are talking about is a TM30, pre covid days this wasnt required for a 30 day extension, but by all accounts immigration are asking for this now.
