When and where should I apply for a visa extension in Thailand?

I’ll be arriving on a 30 day visa exempt (British passport) and plan to get a 30 extension.

When do I have to apply for the extension? Where do I have to get it done?

Edit: I’ll rephrase. Do all of the immigration offices do extensions? Or do I need to be in a certain city when I apply?

 -- The advantage of applying for the extension early is that the the OP will be traveling around, its one thing to get out of way, they can choose which office to use (bkk is my vote) instead of the "nearest" Immigration office. I think there are advantages to which office to use (BKK over Pattaya for example)

Fair enough, if that is a concern, get a tv. You do loose flexibility going this early. In my view it doesn't matter which office you use. It is just an extension

What is this proof of funds nonsense ? Op is arriving visa exempt, she will be stamped in no questions asked, that extention will cost 1900 baht, no questions asked again. No way someone on a tv is asked for proof of funds either, unless arriving at Sadoa, which might be quite the challenge from the uk...

There is absolutely no advantage in appling early. Apply a week before your 30 days are up, or better get a tv.

I think BKK has the most user friendly and relaxed regulations. I know the Chonburi/Pattaya office are stickliers for proper paperwork and BKK is not. I think you can get your extension as soon as you arrive (assuming you're arrive BKK). Every other immigration office will be different about how they enforce regulations.

You can apply at the local Immigration office where you're staying. Some Immigration offices require a completed TM30(alien in residence form), usually done by the hotel/guest house where you're staying. You can usually apply for your extention of stay about 15 days before your admitted to stay stamp expires, you dont lose any days, it's added to your existing stay. Cost 1900bt

TM7 form, copies of your passport details page, entry stamp and departure card, a 4x6 photo (usually with blue background) and 1,900 baht payment. Any immigration office.

Timing depends on the office but most will allow you to apply at any time - your 30 day extension starts from the day you were meant to leave Thailand not the day you apply.

bhat). Go to immigration at place where ur staying. If bkk go to Chaeng Wattana (bit if a trek to get there tho). I don't think u can go to *any* immigration. Has to be the one where ur address is registered....ud better check that tho...u can just make up any address but if they check it use a real place ur staying

There’s no request for funds on The Hague form. But providing proof isn’t an issue. I have savings to last over a year.

Bryan Theakstone Many Consulates local to Thailand require proof of funds for an SETV but rarely in Europe. The UK doesnt require it and as far as I know neither does the Embassy in the Hague

Tsareena Brown It's most likely a generic app form, just write 'tourist' or leave it blank. It's not actually needed nor are any proof of funds for an SETV from The Hague
