TLDR : Answer Summary
The inquiry discusses applying for a multiple entry visa to Thailand by a UK citizen currently residing in Vietnam. Key points include the fact that multiple entry visas must be applied for in the applicant's home country or a country of legal residence, and there are online application options available. Additionally, there is mention of the current 60-day entry without a visa, which raises questions about the necessity of a multiple entry visa.

With 60 days entry with no visa the reason for a multiple entry visa is not really that valid anymore

I partly agree, but it’s still a good option if you want three entries. I don’t say you can’t get a third one, but a METV feels safer than a gamble.

It costs £150 from the UK (OP can’t get it when in Vietnam) so it’s going to be an expensive option to obtain.

I of course agree on that part. But in general -also based on recent feedbacks- I personally would feel more confident with a METV if I was supposed to do three entries within this period. For maximising two exempts I would still feel quite safe.

ok thanks for the info..... Regarding the onward flight, as I want to stay for 3 months can I book it for 3 months and tell them I will extend or should I book a flight showing two months and then extend with the airline??

Or a throwaway ticket service? (I've not used these before)

an “onward ticket” service will work for about $15

Multiple entry can only be applied for in your home country or country of legal residence.
