Can anyone confirm if being added to a Thai Yellow book of a home sidesteps the TM30 headaches? I see someone was told at immigration they didn't need to do it as they already had a yellow book.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus from the community is that holding a Thai Yellow Book does not exempt foreign residents from the requirement to file a TM30 form. Several commenters clarify that regardless of whether one has a Yellow Book, a pink ID card, or even leases a property, the TM30 filing remains necessary. Variations in enforcement appear to exist among immigration offices, but reliance on documents like the Yellow Book does not negate the necessity of following standard immigration laws.

One last time, having a yellow house book, a pink i/d card for foreigners OR even owning your own condo does NOT exempt you from having to file a TM30.

What is a yellow book? Do you have to do a TM30 if you hold a 30 year lease on the home you stay in when in Doi Saket?

you can google "yellow house book thailand" and get all the information you need about it.
The things are simple - even if you have yellow book, pink ID, you are still foreigner who must to follow immigration laws for foreigners. The things will be different only if you get PR or citizenship.

I assume this discussion is about the BKK-CW office? Some are also swearing on a stack of TM-30s that it is required for a 90 day report as well. Fortunately, I don't have to report to that office. I just did my 90 day & handed the IO my yellow book. End of story.

Chaengwattana is not asking for a TM30 if you're doing a 90 day report at the same address you always used.
IF they were requiring it handing them a yellow book wouldn't have cut any ice with them.
IF you use Chaengwattana I can guarantee you won't get a new yearly extension without at TM30. but I guess you'll find that out :O

Again, varies office to office and having something like an officially registered domicile would make far too much sense for thai immigration consider as an alternative to ridiculous amounts of useless paperwork
