Hello.

Do you need TM30 in Jomtien for 30 day extension?

I am renting an airbnb ifor a month n Pattaya and am here on visa exempt. Before renting I asked the owner about providing TM30 and she said that TM30 not needed now. Instead she gives the renters "blue book" and her passport.

However reading posts on the forum it seems TM30 is required after all?

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus among the comments suggests that a TM30 registration is indeed required for a 30-day extension in Jomtien, even if the landlord claims it is not necessary. Although the renter can try to register the TM30 independently, it seems many users recommend that it’s essential to have proof of address, which would be provided by the landlord's blue book and passport. Additionally, some users mention that using a hotel for a night could facilitate obtaining the TM30, as hotels can issue the necessary documentation immediately upon check-in.

I am curious as to what's up with you not wanting to slog on over to the immigration office with the documentation you have and seeing IF you can apply for the TM30 on your own?

I mean worst they will say is NO you can't do it.

Then you need to check into a hotel and believe me hotels CAN print a TM30 receipt on the spot once they register you and file for the extension the day you check in

You already made this point to me when you contacted me on messenger and I acknowledged it.

The point of me making the post was to establish if TM30 was needed; or if the landlord was right and it was not needed. She claimed that it was not needed based on experience.

However, Phil kindly posted that it was indeed needed from his experience recently. It was unclear to me, from his post, if he registered for the TM30 on the same day he applied for the extension. It seems he did not – rather the hotel registered for him when he moved in, and he also mentioned that immigration requires at least 5 days in a hotel.

My understanding now is that I can try to register the TM30 myself if I do it in person and have a letter of authorization, blue book and landlord’s passport.

So, yes, I can try this. However, since the landlord does not seem to be aware of the process I wanted to establish clearly if the TM30 was needed or not. Since the answer seems to be a clear yes then I have let her know.

I may indeed have to go to Jomtien: but if she realizes that she was mistaken then she could also do it online herself and save me and future tenants both the “slog” and the confusion.

Thanks for your help.

yes, pretty straight forward, they'll direct you to where you need to be in each stage, had to call back next day to pick passport up, I booked into a hotel to get proof of address they told me immigration registration page won't let them enter details for print out of less than 5 days, I did experience same thing previously in bkk

I see. So hotel would have done TM30 for you when you checked in, no?

Unfortunalty, I am in an airbnb for a month and have already been here for 4 days with owner insisting i do not need TM30. It seems it should have filed as soon as I arived but was not.

To book into a hotel for 5 days on top of the cost of the airbnb is not really something I had planned......but thanks for the advice.

the hotel register you with immigration and print out proof of address is off immigration then has to be shown in immigration office, they will give you official tm30 card stapled in your passport for extension

Jomtien allow extension applications only with 7 days or less remaining on current entry stamp

YES, Jomtien Immigration does require a TM30 address registration be on file for any extension... including your 30 day extension of stay. These are the common found requirements for the 30 days extension of stay at Thai Immigration office for 1900 Thai baht.

You might have to stay at a hotel for one night and use that tm30 for your extension.
