Does a single entry tourist visa (TR) become void if I leave Thailand before the 60 days are up?

I am looking at a single entry tourist visa (TR) which will give us 60 days in Thailand. Does this mean that if I leave the country and come back into Thailand during this period, this will void the visa? I am assuming so due to the name of the visa but need clarification. TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
A single entry tourist visa (TR) grants you a 60-day stay in Thailand, but if you leave the country before the period is over, the visa will no longer be valid for re-entry. To manage this, you can either apply for a single re-entry permit to maintain your original visa stamp or potentially utilize a visa-exempt entry upon returning, depending on your nationality.

The other thing to note is that from most countries you can get stamped in visa exempt for 30 days - depending on your travel dates outside Thailand this may work - you simply get a second visa exempt entry on your return. Please note that airlines in some countries may want to see you have a return or at least onward ticket to allow you to board the plane to Thailand).

did bring up a valid point

IF you come here, get stamped in for 60 days but wanted to go to another country for a few days and come back to thailand you COULD buy a single re-entry permit for 1000baht.

That would keep your 60 day stamp 'valid' so you could leave, come back and be stamped in until that date again.

It doesn't add any days to your 60 day stamp BUT you could enter and use the rest of it.

OR once you get here and get stamped in for 60 days you go to the immigration office and buy one there.

oh wow ok Todd and is that at the re-entry counter at the airport? I get this just before I fly out?

You can always buy another entry at an immigration office for 1.900 bath.

Cool, it was 2 years ago i did that so thanks for refreshing my memory :p

@Linn ******
an extension is 1900 baht, a single re-entry permit is 1000baht and a multiple re-entry permit is 3800baht.
Lo ******
What? I payed 1.9

a single re-entry permit is 1000baht ;)

you are correct. A single entry tourist visa is just that :O It's good for one single entry into thailand and you get stamped in for 60 days, then the visa is used <- meaning you can't use it for entry again..

Leaving before the 60 days is up cancels the entry stamp you got.
