Hello, I know this was asked before, but I searched and could not find the post. I was granted a TR60, but some circumstances may force me to fly out one week after arrival for a few days. Will I be able to hold on to the visa for the second entry? Or must it be used if it on the system? Or is it chance if it is spotted or not?

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you hold a TR60 tourist visa and plan to leave Thailand shortly after arrival, you can retain your visa for a second entry by obtaining a single-entry Re-entry permit. This permit can be purchased at a Thai Immigration office or at the airport before your departure. Upon returning before the end of the initial 60-day stay, you will be allowed entry for the remaining days of your visa. However, if you do not secure the re-entry permit, your visa may become void upon leaving.

If you're already in Thailand you can buy a re-entry permit before you leave, if you haven't yet entered Thailand you can show the visa and ask the immigration officer to stamp you in visa exempt and activate the visa when you return to Thailand.

All you can do is ask with showing your visa to the officer at passport control if you can 'save' it a week later. If they want to (or can) maybe let you do. But they surely don't have to do that for you, you also might be told to use now or it will be voided. Don't try to pretend you don't have it, or your visa would be voided.

If you enter Thailand with a Thai tourist visa , you will be stamped in for 60 days on arrival.

If you leave Thailand and want to return during that 60 days , buy a single entry Re-entry permit for 1000 Thai baht at your local Thai Immigration office, or for 1,200 Thai baht at the airport when you check-in for your departure flight.

When you return during that 60 days, you will be stamped in for the remainder of the time you received when you first arrived into Thailand.
