Hi team, uk here. If I get a 60 day single entry tourist visa, does that mean once I’m in I can’t travel anywhere outside Thailand during that 60 days? Ie: invalidates the 60 day visa if I go see a friend in Japan during that 60 days? Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A 60-day single entry tourist visa allows you to enter Thailand once for a maximum stay of 60 days. If you leave Thailand to visit another country, such as Japan, your visa will be considered used, and you would not be able to re-enter Thailand on that same visa. However, you can purchase a re-entry permit before leaving, which lets you keep your initial visa active for a return to Thailand. Alternatively, you could enter Thailand on a visa-exempt basis upon your return, or consider a multiple entry tourist visa for greater flexibility.

I hope OP got an answer to his original question. Thank you for your advice, everyone.

Don't forget, you'd get 30 days here (extendable +30 more) visa exempt and then another 30+30 on your reentry after Japan. Perhaps you don't need the 60 day visa.

tried to ask this question a few times but it was rejected so thank you.

As being very new to Thailand, within my 30 day visa waiver wanted to understand if I left within 30 days, came back from say Vietnam after a few weeks there, would I get another 30 day visa waiver entry back into Thailand. You have finally answered my question, many thanks!!

Single entry is your biggest clue!

Yes, a Single Entry visa means you can use this once, on entry the visa get the stamp used and becomes invalid. You get a maximum stay of 60 days and you can leave anyday during those 60 days.

On return you might want to use the 30 day Visa Exempt Entry or buy a new tourist visa at the Thai consulate before travel.

Alternative is the 6 months valid Multiple Entry Tourist Visa, which will give 60 days of stay on each entry during the 6 months validity of the visa.

@Robert ******
does that mean that the purchase of a re-entry is no option after all ?

You can buy a Re-Entry Permit but be aware that does not give you extra days, on return you will get the same Admitted until day as you got on your first entry

@Robert ******
even after your tourist 60 day visa has been used?

@Ang ****
a Tourist visa gives you 60 days of admitted to stay. You can keep this period active when travel abroad by buying a Re-Entry Permit.

okay clear ! Thanks for your quick feedback

You can buy a re-entry permit to keep your initial 60 day entry valid if you wanted a hop over to Japan

You could apply for a multi-entry tourist visa, all depends on your travel plans, (this is applied for in your home country)

You would get a re-entry from the airport, (easiest option for you)
