Re: Open-ended travel plans, re-entry... I will be purchasing a re-entry permit for a Non-O with a 1-year retirement extension. It will be for an open-ended trip back to my home to the US. I might be gone a month, I might be 4 months. Can I buy a single re-entry permit with an open return date or must I purchase a multiple re-entry visa?

TLDR : Answer Summary
You can purchase a single re-entry permit if you plan to leave Thailand once during your retirement extension. It's important to return before your current extension expires and to have the re-entry permit before you exit the country, regardless of how long you will be away.

you can get a single re-entry permit if you're just leaving and comin' back in once during the extension you have.
As long as you come back BEFORE your current extension expires AND have a re-entry permit before you stamp out no matter how long you're gone you'll get stamped in until the current extension expiration date
Cool... Thanks. Might just apply for an OA when I return to the US, but now that I've gone through all of the funding and other nonsense- I have some flexibility. I figured I will have to return before the end of my extension, otherwise, I lose my Non-O and restart the process.
