I have a US Social Security pension equalling in excess of 65,000 THB/month, so I can avoid the 800,000 THB bank deposit. My wife”s pension is smaller, though - about 23,000 THB. How much would she be required to deposit? i understand that the 800,000 THB deposit would be reduced, but by how much? Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the bank deposit amount required for their wife's retirement visa in Thailand, given their substantial pension income. Responses clarify that the Non-O Visa requires a deposit of 800,000 THB in a Thai bank account, regardless of income. However, for the OA visa, proof of annual income, including social security, can be utilized. Additionally, once the primary applicant gains a one-year extension, the spouse can apply as a Trailing Spouse without an additional deposit.

Members.... FYI...we do not allow any discussion of Thai Visa Agent on this forum..Period ! I removed several replies to this post with mention of a Thai Visa Agent.

Nor do we allow any reference to buying a flight ticket departing Thailand within the number of days you are going to be STAMPED in on arrival.

As you are American your embassy doesn't provide an income affidavit so you can't use your monthly income to obtain a Non-O visa inside Thailand nor for the first annual extension of stay based on being over 50. For these you need 800k baht in a Thai bank account in your name only. For the 2nd annual extension you can use your monthly income by transferring a minimum of 65k baht every month from overseas to your Thai bank for a full 12 months before you apply for the 2nd extension

IF you choose to get the Non O Visa as Retired in Thailand... you do need to deposit the 800,000 Thai baht in a Thai bank account in your name only.

Once you have the One year extension of stay as retired in your passport, your wife can apply as Trailing Spouse which does not require another deposit of 800,000 Thai baht.

You can apply for the OA visa as Retired in your home country USA.

The requirements for the One year visa do allow you to show proof of your Annual income, including your social security.

Look at the Thai Embassy or Consulate website in the USA which serves your State for the OA visa requirements as RETIRED.

As you are in the State of Washington...the Los Angeles Thai Consulate serves you.

Sorry but you cannot use the income as stated to obtain the Non O Visa as retiree and the One year extension of stay as retired in Thailand.

You will need to show PROOF of you having deposited 800,000 Thai baht in a Thai bank account in your name only. Said deposit to be done by international transfer.
