1. Do I need to translate my affidavit for income from my embassy to Thai before going to Chaeng Wattanna asking for a 1 year extension?

2. Is a police clearance needed for to get a 1 year extension from CW from a non Imm o based of marriage?

(I know a reasonable answer could be for me to go there and get their list of what is needed, which is fine, but seeing it's an office many visit often I hope there is no harm asking people who've gone through the process, seeing I could avoid an extra day off for me and wife just to pick up a list).

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user asks if they need to translate their affidavit of income from their embassy into Thai for a 1-year extension request, and whether a police clearance is necessary when applying for the extension based on marriage. Community responses indicate that if the affidavit from the embassy is in English and issued by a country whose consulates still provide these, translation may not be needed. Additionally, whether a police clearance is required can depend on nationality, but it is likely not necessary for a marriage-based extension, which requires certain documents like a TM7 application, Thai marriage documents, an income statement, and possibly more.

you can apply for the yearly extension based on marriage while on amnesty from the Non-O / 60 day visit family extension stamps

You need to get after it and make sure when you go you have all the documents required because you're sure cutting it close.

Why would you need a bank letter and bank book if you have the embassy income letter?
Robert *******
Immigration still wants to see the bank book as proof the money comes into Thailand to support you.

income only in a foreign account and living on your salary is not appreciated,

@Robert ******
not correct. My income in Thailand (sallary) is enough to get Non O extension of stay based on family.

@Radim *******
Getting a 60 day extension of stay based on visiting Thai family has no income/ savings requirements. Getting a one year extension of stay based on marriage to a Thai female or raising half-Thai children does.

@Benjamin *****
yes, I was talking about 1y extension.

that was not the case at the Kalasin office, I didn't have to show my bank book. It would show nothing anyhow as I get my money from an ATM card from my Canadian Credit Union. What you describe would be a complete rewrite of the rules. When certain embassies stoped issuing income letters Immigration came up with showing a direct foreign monthly deposit into your Thai bank account so those who could no longer get the letter could show proof of income. It does not apply to those who can get the letter.

haven't heard; read or experienced that. There is no rule stating that the money actually needs to be transferred to Thailand. But then TIT, some IO might think differently.

IF you are from one of the country's whose consulates still issue the affidavit of income from abroad notary letter (which should be in english) you don't need to get it translated. AND as far as whether you need a police background check to get the year extension based on marriage (or anything really) that is more down to your nationality than anything else. I would hazard a guess and say NO you do not need the background check, just the TM7 application for extension, the thai marriage documents (possibly updating the Kor Ror 2), the required photos of you and your wife, the letter from your embassy stating you get a minimum of 40K baht a month in income, hand drawn map to your house, etc <- NOTE that is only a partial list of what you actually need and it's the reason we tell people to make the trip to the immigration office with your thai wife in tow BEFORE you show up to apply for the year extension. That way you know what you need and are not caught with missing documents on the day you go to apply

Thanks, I hold a Swedish passport so hopefully a police background shouldn't be needed.

I understand the reasoning, but we rather take our chances and see if we have to return with more documents later.

Thanks!
