1) is there only one "ministry of foreign affairs" in Thailand? I've heard nightmares about getting in at Bangkok.

2) are there agents that just handle this step for marriage process?

1. Do I need to translate my affidavit for income from my embassy to Thai before going to Chaeng Wattanna asking for a 1 year extension?

2. Is a police clearance needed for to get a 1 year extension from CW from a non Imm o based of marriage?

(I know a reasonable answer could be for me to go there and get their list of what is needed, which is fine, but seeing it's an office many visit often I hope there is no harm asking people who've gone through the process, seeing I could avoid an extra day off for me and wife just to pick up a list).

Hello everyone!

My experience from yesterday. After obtaining the marriage documents, legalized in proper way, with my thai girlfriend we decided to check where to get married and what is the procedure and requirements in the respective amphur in Bangkok . We checked personally at Bang Rak and Bang Sue, phoned at Huai Kwang. In all three places, we were told that must wait at least one-two months to make the appropriate inspection of me. No problem if mariage is between thai citizens. Huai kwang explained that this is because of many fake marriages lately. We asked whether the process could be speeded up because my visa is SE for 60 days but told us that they can't do anything and the only thing we can do is to wait...

So if you decide to marry in Thailand, keep in mind that you will need at least 2-3 months to go through their endless procedures and think well what kind of visa you'll need. Forget about visa exemption stay here. I would be grateful if anyone shared their experience in such a case. Thanks in advance!
