TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster inquired about the requirement to stay the full 90 days on a planned visit visa to Thailand. The responses clarified that there is no 90-day tourist visa available; instead, travelers can opt for a 60-day tourist visa with the possibility of a 30-day extension. Additionally, it's possible to leave before the visa expires, and there are no penalties for early departure.

They'll keep you until the very last hour. If you show up early they'll house you a jail.

I am just kidding. You are free to leave anytime. The only caution I have for you, there is a 15 day quarantine - you don't want to come for 16 days and stay 15 of those days in quarantine.

How long do you want to stay? If you are from a country that can come visa exempt you can stay for 45 initial days with a 30 day extension (no charge for the visa exemption but 1900b for the extension)

Or get a tourist visa 60+30 days which cost aprox $50usd, plus 1900b for the 30 day extension.

You do not need to spend the entire time on a 60 day tourist visa.

There is no 90 day tourist visa, sorry ๐Ÿ˜ž

(Edited)

No get TR visa 60 days plus 30 days, depending upon your nationality.

90 day visa is the STV and that has too many restrictions, with showing accomadation for the 90 day period

Is it easy to extend visas in Thailand nowadays?

@TJ *****
yes it is. You can get one 30 day extension of stay based on tourism, and 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19 (if they are still being sold).

we are about to apply for a visa from the UK for end of July, I am pretty confused by the visas.. would you recommend the 45 day visa initially and apply for extension when there?
Ryan ********
@Do***
if you plan to apply for a visa remember it is only valid for entry for 90 days from issue date. So if you plan to come late July you canโ€™t apply now or it wonโ€™t be valid when you want to come!

@Ryan *******
okay well thanks for that as the email from the embassy states applications can be made 3 months ahead of date of departure. No wonder my head is swirling ! Thanks for the heads up

exactly. some people have been worried that when they get their visa it has a valid date, but they think that the expiry date is the last date they can stay in Thailand. However it is actually the last day you have to enter thailand. the visa starts when you go through immigration at BKK.

Good luck on your travels. Thailand is beautiful, i'm loving it here. however it is very quiet!

I stayed at the centre point silom. Good size room. Comfortable bed (king size) laundry in room, kitchenette, balcony, bathtub and separate shower. I paid 50,000b

actually TR visa is 60 days plus 30 extension when here, got it wrong earlier 45 days is visa exemption. Quite easy to do either
