Short term, if I obtain a 90 day visa, how long would I need to leave Thailand before I can apply for another 90 day visa?. Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The replies clarify that there's no mandatory waiting period to apply for a new 90-day visa after your current visa expires or you leave Thailand. However, it's essential to understand the specifics of the type of visa you hold—such as whether it's a tourist visa or a multi-entry visa—and the details around entry and exit conditions. The conversation also touches on subtopics like the process for obtaining a 60-day tourist visa and necessary travel documentation.

no limitation, but you can get the visa 90 days only in your home country, if a Thai want to visit Europe the can do the same but there is a limit that the Thai only can be 6 month's from the day they enter Europe/Sengen country's

All very interesting answers, but I have a question.

If you apply for 60 day tourist visa in your home country, do you have to know the day you depart, or is there a time limit that you have to use the visa?

you visa is valid for 90 days and you will be stamped in for 60 days which you can extend once for 30 more days 1900 baht

Hi Bob,To get a 60 day tv do you have to show an onward ticket at the end of the 60 days or have an onward ticket for 90 days. 60+30 extension

I believe the e-visa ask for a ticket out in 60 days but it’s usually your airline that will ask for onward travel

I think youre thinking of getting a 60 day TR visa before you arrive in thailand. You apply for this online at this address. Then ypu go to immigration office any day before your 60 runs out and get a 30 day extension.

6 month multi entry visa??

What 90 day visa are you talking about? I think you are confused. A tourist visa is valid for entry for 90 days, once you enter you have 60 days stay before you leave or extend once, for a further 30 days.

you can apply right away.

What 90 day visa do you have ?

@Bob *********
it’s better to apply for the tourist visa and extend. Then if a visa run and extend. That’s 60+30.30+30

The tourist visa needs to be applied for from your home country as you need flights inbound

so if i am in a country that is not my home country, there is no way to apply for the 60-day tourist visa? Neither online or in person at a Thai consulate/embassy?
Bob **********
@Alex ********
you can apply for a tourist visa but not an e-visa

@Bob *********
so i would have to apply by going in person to the Thai consulate?

You can get away with 2 entry visas so you can get up to 6 months without PR doing the visa runs

I had a 30 day visa to visit my partner, I’ll be back again in September for another 30 days but whilst I am there will apply for another 60 days taking me to 90 days, I do however want to stay in Thailand over the cold winter months in the UK hence me wanting another 90 days to take me to April.

You will have to start with the 60 day touristvisa, and then extent 30 days, since you can not apply for touristvisa from inside of Thailand.

When going to Thailand for 31 - 60 ( 90 )days, the 60 days touristvisa is the best option.

It is cheaper than visa excempt + 30 days extension.

No need of a onward ticket ( 90 days 1 onward ), if returnticket within 60 days.

It is easier to apply from the comfort of your home.

thaievisa.go.th

If visiting the nearest Thai Embassy website, you may find informations, that make it easier to apply online.

Not wasting holiday time to find, go to and waiting at a immigration office ( 90 you would need that ).

Then no need to leave Thailand in up to 90 days.

to get a 60 day extension you need to be married otherwise you can only get a 30 day extension then your done and have to leave the country. Look into the multiple entry tourist visa which can give you close to 9 months if used carefully with a couple of border bounces

@Dave ******
there is no 30 day visa it’s an exempt stamp which can be extended once for 30 days then do a border bounce for 30+30 or apply for a tourist visa while out of the country
