Hello. A TM30 question here.
I'd like to rent a hotel room for 6 months but since it's a hotel, I will pay month by month and there is no lease or contract.
Will the owner still be able to submit the TM30 and get it approved without a lease?
Or as a foreigner for me it's better to avoid long term stays in hotels and simply choose a condo with a real lease contract?
I hold a non immi visa with work permit, and soon I will approach a new yearly extension (June), so I don't want to run the risk the immigration refuse to extend.
I'm also under a BOI visa (Chamchuri sq.) and I heard rumours about the TM30 is no longer needed... But its still not clear.
TLDR : Answer Summary
The TM30 form is a notification that hotels must submit to immigration when accommodating foreigners, regardless of whether a lease exists. Licensed hotels are legally required to file the TM30 within one business day of a foreign guest arriving. As a foreigner, it’s advisable to ensure that the hotel provides proof of filing the TM30, such as a screenshot, to avoid issues with visa extensions. Although some lower-end hotels may neglect this requirement, reputable hotels typically manage it efficiently. Given the complications, some expats prefer renting condos with formal leases for added security regarding their residency status.
