TLDR : Answer Summary
When changing hotels during a 60-day stay in Thailand, you do not need to worry about registering yourself as the hotels are required to automatically register your stay with immigration upon check-in. As long as you stay at a hotel for more than 24 hours, they will handle the TM30 registration for you. This should not be a concern unless you intend to apply for an extension or need other immigration services, in which case the hotel registrations should show up in their system.

They will always make a copy of your passport. No need to register as you say.

you need to ask your immigration office what their policy is. Some require you to register again and some do not.

As a tourist its no concern for you to have been repprted TM30. Only if ypu want a 30 days extension your local immigration might ask for it. That would only be the TM30 of that moment. No history check

If you are staying 60 days and leaving Thailand before or on your current stamp exit date you will not be using Immigration so you don't need to worry about a TM30 (which is the responsibility of your hotel or landlord anyway).

Stayed at hundreds of hotels and guesthouses over the years. Many do not even ask for my passport or anything.

The hotel is required by law to register you as a guest..

That's why they take a copy or picture of your passport

you have no idea what you are talking about. Every time you check in at a hotel, they report your stay to immigration. You wouldn't have any reason to be aware of them doing it, but it's wrong to say it doesn't need to be done

I have been in Thailand for 2 years, staying for 3 months and then returning to my hometown. I change 7 or 8 hotels each time. I have not had any problems so far.

it's AirBnB accomodations which will cause most problems, because their owners rarely register their guests per TM30

as all hotels (at least 99% of all hotels!) will register him per TM30, he won't have any problem when he needs something from Immigration. They will see the TM30 on their computer, and they will service him

Gee I’ve lived here for 20 years and never was told I need to register when I stayed anywhere in Thailand over 24 hours! Don’t turn me in! Hotels will always copy your passport that’s all is required.
