I plan on going to Cambodia for a few days then returning to Phuket then heading to the U.S. for a few weeks. Should I report to immigration when I get back from Cambodia, or can I wait until I get back from California? What is the rule?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the procedure for reporting to Thai immigration after returning from Cambodia and before traveling to the U.S., as well as after returning from the U.S. Multiple comments clarify that the user should update their TM.30 form receipt within 24 hours of returning to Phuket from Cambodia, and again upon their return from the U.S. The discussion emphasizes the importance of complying with Phuket's strict immigration rules regarding the TM.30 form and registration of residence.

, believe me they're not. It's nothing personal and I'm sure the immigration officers are as fed up with that TM.30 as the foreigners are. You're starting to see some offices give it up already. :O And thankfully bangkok never even started it. ;)

It's as if they're making it difficult to stay here on purpose.

wow, that would suck :/ BUT in that case, when you come back I'd take the copies with you.

Tod, the immigration officer told me I needed to do all of the paperwork over again. I asked him twice.

You don't need to turn in any paperwork that I am aware of.

IF you already did a TM.30 form you have the receipt in your passport now, you take that in (within 24 hours of you getting back into the country and back home) and they will put a new date stamp on it, AND they update their information in the system with your new departure card number.

Then when you come back from the US you do the same thing.

I know people who travel a lot that have 5 or 5 different dates stamped on their original TM.30 receipt.

The officer told me everytime I leave the country I'll have to do the same. I'm wondering if I can go to Cambodia, come back to Phuket then head back to the U.S. for a few weeks and register my address when I get back from the U.S.?

if you haven’t changed your address you should need the form and some copies of your passport Visa departure card ect

Seems like a lot of redundant paperwork to me, but that's the way it is. Thanks for the clarification.

Umm, I just told you that when you come back from Cambodia you go to the immigration office within 24 hours of you getting back and update the TM.30 receipt you have in your passport now (I believe you mentioned you have it on another thread you made).

THEN when you get back from the US you go back to the immigration office and update the TM.30 receipt in your passport ONE more time ;)

That's how you do it in Phuket

definitely take your TM.30 receipt in to the immigration office when you get back from Cambodia and get it updated with your new departure card number and date. THEN do it again when you get back from the US.

Phuket is hard as nails about that TM.30 and you don't need to get on their wrong side about it at all.

I have a retirement extension good through April of next year. I'm asking because I need to be clear on the rules. I went to immigration today and had to register my apartment again.

Officially your landlord, house owner or the manager of hotel should report you. Don't worry about hotels, they now, if you have totally nothing to do at Immigration during the few weeks you stay in Phuket nobody knows you were there. So if the landlord, house owner don't make the report by themselves, I would not worry for those few weeks.
