Good afternoon all

I am hoping to check a semi Visa related question after not getting a clear answer from Google, and fearing I might have messed up.

Short version: Aussie with non immigrant volunteer permit with an extension of stay till Nov 2020. Returned to bkk from Christmas in Aus last week on my first multi re entry permit. I overnighted at a hotel and then back to my unit in Mae Sot.

My question should I have /do I need to report immigration in MS?

Thanks in anticipation 😊

TLDR : Answer Summary
An Australian expat holds a non-immigrant volunteer permit with an extension until November 2020. After traveling to Australia, they returned to Bangkok and then to their residence in Mae Sot. They inquired if they need to report to immigration in Mae Sot after their return. Community responses indicated that filing a TM30 report is generally required after traveling outside Thailand, though some immigration offices may have relaxed regulations. One user confirmed the TM30 wasn't necessary due to having a re-entry permit.

Well, I popped into the immigration office, probably not the best idea on a Saturday here in MS, as the main section is closed. However I spoke to a helpful lady, who after returning to her office with my passport for ten or so minutes, and checking my TM6, ( although a little of of it may have been lost in translation), informed me that "reporting" with a form TM30 wasn't needed, because I had a re-entry permit and it was all fine. :) I'll double check next time I'm down that way during the week, but it seems things might be a little more relaxed here in sleepy MS.

Thank you all for your input. It is appreciated.

According to the law written on the TM30, you must report yourself to immigration 24 hours after staying in a residency/ hotel.

As you visited many hotels during that first week and only arrived ‘home’ the day before your immigration visit you should be ok. 😜

I spent a month travelling Phuket, Bkk area before arriving home. No issues as hotels report TM30...or not! I went to IM to do the TM30 and they asked when I arrived in the country. As per TM6 date and travelling around since. No issues.

The hotel you stayed at should have filed a TM30 online. Some immigration offices don’t require another filing if moving about within Thailand others do. Getting the hotel to do a screenshot of their registration they did for you might be an issue. I’d suggest a trip to your local office would be the best bet.

Yes a TM30 should be filed with Thai Immigration as you went out of Thailand and returned.
