TLDR : Answer Summary
After re-entering Thailand, you need to report back to immigration if you are not staying at a hotel; this is done through filing a TM30. If you're considering a tourist visa extension, it's also advisable to handle the TM30 at that time, as it's often checked during extension applications. Many users have reported that the immigration office in Pattaya is accommodating, and in some cases, no fee is charged for the late report.

Your other option is to go to the online web-portal, upload your passport, your wife's thai i/d card, your lease and see if you can get a user name / temp password for filing a TM30 online on your own.

If the OP is looking at doing a tourist visa extension in Jomtien, he may as well go and get it over with. 99.99% they will pick it up on extension day anyway and extend your day. Other visa extensions, sometimes they get you, sometimes not.

1. Yes, legally, you have to file a TM30, IF you are not staying at a hotel.

2. What part of Thailand do you live?
