Do I need to report my 90-day visa requirement if I'm overdue due to COVID-19 changes?

I thought that when renewing your visa (retirement) it reset the 90 day reporting requirements but now understand this is not the case. I am now 80 days overdue. Did Covid changes mean o don’t need to do until 26 September? I tried online but it said contact immigration office.

Truly the thread that will not die :O

The way it actually is (whether you believe me or not) IS

IF you were on a visa or extension that is required to do a 90 day report AND you decided to use the amnesty on 90 day reporting and didn't file one between March 26 and July 31st you now have from Aug 1st until Aug 31st to go file one without getting fined.

In Bangkok you go to the Muang Thong Thani Immigration location here to file a 90 day report

If you are 80 days overdue, that means it was due around 24 May. That's after 26 March so you are covered by the amnesty. Just go to immigration before 31 August and do it, there will be no fine.

I think if you were due to do your report in February, you will get your stamp, but you will likely be fined 2000 bhat. The Amnesty was for 90 day reports due from March. I did mine two weeks ago as I missed mine for the first time ever, in January. I got fined. But got stamped ok. Beware, the 90 day report is now done somewhere away from Wattana

Normally if you go for a new visa they also do the 90 days, starting from that day on!

I did my OA in Samui and the 90 day commenced from the beginning of the 12 month extension. Note stapled into my passport to confirm the date.

I did my latest O-A extension in June at Jomtien and the immigration officer suggested I should do my latest. 90 day report then.

I did it the next day when I collected my passport.

This is my experience. I have not done any reporting since February. I attempted a few times on line but was referred back to local immigration. I assumed that it might be because I had not done a first report successfully. I visited local immigration this week and they asked me to do a report which I did and got a receipt. I was not charged or fined for my report being overdue.

They could not help me with getting the Visa I wanted which was why I went in the first place.

I assume that from now on I will be able to do 90 day reporting on line if I can find a way of staying in Thailand legally.

here's a super easy way to tell IF getting a new yearly extension reset your 90 day reporting.. :O

When you get your year extension at the immigration office IF they GIVE you a new 90 day reporting receipt <- that has a new 90 day report date on it then they DID reset your 90 day reporting

BUT

When you get your year extension at the immigration office IF they DID NOT GIVE you a new 90 day reporting receipt it means your 90 day report is due when it's due.

Only a very few offices reset the 90 days when you get a year extension

Chiang mai does not-- at least not in repeated renewals for me and friends, but as I have shared, they staple the receipt in your passport with the reporting date clearly visible.

Bangkok did for my 1 y ext. (From 90d visa)

@Jonas ************
the FIRST time you get a yearly extension is they put a paper in your passport telling you when your FIRST 90 day report is. After that you're on your own

here's what the paper looks like ;)
Nick ************
@Tod ********
I have never been given one of those reminders.

@Nick ***********
it is done ONLY the very first time you get a yearly extension, after that you're on your onw

just so and tell them u didn’t understand and pay the fine it shouldn’t be much i was 38 days over as thought mine coincided with my wife’s they were ok think fine was 2,000 just told me return in 52 days to do the 90 again
Janey ******
Usually, when extending or applying for a visa, the officer will tell you when you next need to notify. If not, I guess we should ask. Some of them will start the 90 days afresh to save you coming to do it soon. However, with the online 90-day report, I think it is simpler to keep doing it on the date given, especially when there's no paper slip.

@Janey *****
just did my 90 day, and always for years , they staple receipt in passport with next date due clearly visible, then I also add it to my ph calendar to provide a warning in advance of due date.

when extending "retirement" Visa, it's clear to see 90 day reporting date does not change. does not change.

but, seems to me, with the amnesty, u could wait until Sept 26.

where have you been since March lol/

i was at chaeng wattana for an extension recently and the officer told me my (overdue) 90 day reporting can be done in september. tod daniels suggested she was probably just mistaken and i need to do it in august, so it's possible even the officers are becoming confused by all the recent changes.
Lindsey **********
@Oliver *******
they certainly are
Steven ***************
@Oliver *******
. I was told same thing as you. She said just do it again before amnesty ends . This was while getting a yearly extension last month and my previous report was in January.
Oliver ********
@Steven **************
would be good to have proper clarification on this as doing it earlier than necessary would mean the next 90 days arrives sooner but doing it late costs 2000 baht.
Steven ***************
@Oliver *******
. At the moment there is no penalty for overdue 90 day reports. Hasnt been since the first amnesty was announced. Just go and report in person. You'll then be able to do it online again. Then wait to see what they announce for after 26 Sept

the question is whether the late reporting fines will start again on 1 september (as suggested by tod daniels and also the infographic above shared by stephan) or on the same day as the overstay amnesty ends (as suggested by the immigration officers to both of us). right now my plan is to head to muang thong thani before the end of august just in case.
Steven ***************
@Oliver *******
. Well if you do it in August, it wont matter what September brings 👍 I did mine same day I was told this anyway.
Stephan ***********
You have to go to the Immigration Office this month. Online only work, if you have no gap in your report history.
