So I'm on a education visa and was told that every time I go to renew visa (60 days or less) that would reset my 90 day reporting. Come to find out not true. I was supposed to report today, but I had to clue till the school informed me. I will not be able to make it to immigration till Monday due to holiday. What penalty should I expect when I go to immigration, and will this cause me any issues getting a retirement visa in 2 weeks when I turn 50? Thank you so much as always.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the penalties for missing their 90-day reporting while on an education visa in Thailand, as they were misinformed that renewing their visa would reset the reporting requirement. Community members clarify that there is a 7-day grace period for 90-day reports, and penalties for late reporting are generally not severe, possibly involving a small fine. Concerns are also raised about how this may affect the user's ability to obtain a retirement visa shortly after turning 50.

I entered Thailand on tourist visa and switched over to Ed visa. At the time they were only doing 8 month Ed visas. My attached sheet of paper said

(yesterday) I just didn't know I had to do 90 day if I had jist went to immigration for my visa stamp for Ed extension. Totally my fault for not understanding everything first time around. Got it all taken care of yesterday but was just a little worried since it was my first 90 day report. Appreciate the follow up.

complacency is your enemy here, especially with visa stuff. Thai visa advice is Thailand's best dedicated visa fb group - worth joining there to stay up to speed and ask any visa related questions. Good luck 👍

There will be a stamp/document in your passport with the date that you have to report - you should always read this and and not rely on anyone else. Your reporting date would have changed for a new visa.. It's possible that you may have got a month under consideration - one month from your new visa date.

I feel it is just her figure of speech to express about the next 90 day reporting.

As other commenters note, you've got up to seven days after the 90-day report is due and I can vouch for that, I always do mine a few days late as I do it at the end of every three months.

Surprised you're only getting 60-day extensions on an ED, though. It used to be 90.

I'm on the 8 month covid Ed visa.

There's no such thing as a covid Ed visa...

probably worded it wrong. Only 8 month Ed visas were offered during covid restrictions. So that's what I meant by COVID Ed visa. My bad.

@Mike ******
Are you sure you're not on a y0 day covid extension? If you're on a 60 day covid extension, your ED visa has already been canceled and your agent is lying to you.

I 100 percent sure. When I came to Thailand they were only offering 8 month education visas due to the borders being closed. I have never used a agent, I've only dealt with my schools admin. Plus I've gone to immigration 3 times and I'm 100 percent sure I'm on a Ed visa. I just worded it incorrect the first time because before covid Ed visas were longer, but during covid they were only allowing 8 month ones.

you're getting COVID extensions, that makes more sense.

no. I worded it wrong. Only 8 month Ed visa offered during covid restrictions

Depends on your study course. Many ED extentions used to only be 60 days.

90 day reports can be done 15 days prior or up to 7 days after without penalty

I think there is a 7 day over time but even if it was more than 7 days you will just be fined (not sure how much but it's not big money) and it wouldn't effect you getting another Visa.

90 day report is 14 days before date and 7 after
