Do I need to provide accommodation and flight details to apply for a Thai tourist visa on the e-visa website?

Hello.

As I understand, one can apply for a tourist visa on the e-visa website. Does it require to have accommodation reservation and flight ticket before applying for the visa? Or those can be sorted after visa has been issued?

Is there any difference with applying for this visa beforehand or arriving without a visa and getting voa stamp? If would intend to have 60 days + 30 days (if that's the current timeframe?)

Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for a tourist visa online through the e-visa website, you need to provide an accommodation reservation and flight ticket as part of the application. If you choose to arrive in Thailand without a visa, you may qualify for visa exempt entry which allows for a 30-day stay, which can be extended for an additional 30 days at a local immigration office. Alternatively, if you are from a country that does not qualify for visa exempt entry, you may have to apply for a Visa on Arrival (VoA), which typically grants a 15-day stay that cannot be extended.

So if you want the 60 days you have to apply on the e visa website, if this is your option then it will tell you exactly what you need to apply but accommodation and flights are among the information needed to apply.

If you arrive with nothing you have one of two options. A lot of countries can get what’s called the visa exempt entry which allows for 30 days stay(despite the commonly misused term is not a VOA) and can be extended for 30 days around the last week of your stay at a local immigration office for 1900 baht.

If you are unfortunate to be one of the handful of Countries who cannot get visa exempt and you can only have a VOA the. You will be stamped in for 15 days and believe it costs 2000baht to receive the visa, also this cannot be extended either I believe.

Thank you for the detailed answer. I prefer to have an option with the longest possible stay, thus applying beforehand on the website would be best I guess. Accommodation and flight reservations seems to be requirement indeed.. although it puts people in situation where they don't know if they get a visa, while having to spend on those two aspects already.

I agree completely but unfortunately they are the requirements. But I wouldn’t worry too much I have never known anyone to be refused a tourist visa for no reason if you haven’t an extensive history of visiting Thailand etc and provide the information they ask for you have nothing to worry about 😁

Haven't visited Thailand before at all, thus shouldn't be an issue. One question that I may have is about 'Permanent residency/current location' field in the beginning of the application, which also correlates to the next field where it's submitted to. If my native country is in north europe, while I've been living/working in another country in south europe, while current location where I would be flying from is Bali... not fully sure which one I should select there. Safest bet seems to be my native country, although I don't live there for a while already, yet use the passport from it.

If you are in Bali, you are supposed to apply for your visa at the Thai embassy in Indonesia (Jakarta).

Thai embassy in Indonesia is not on eVisa system, you have to do in person.

Not sure about embassy in Portugal (you need to check the requirements on their website), but many embassies check your passport or other documents to see if you are in that country (residency), as well as the ticket to Thailand traveling origin is that country.

Hmm.. that kind of complicates things quite a bit. As I don't plan to go to Jakarta, nor to Portugal (in order to fly back to Asia for that matter). Perhaps I should contact some places and ask about this, to be sure what is the best way.

, sorry, that's on your own to decide if you want to apply for SETV in another nearby country, or entering on visa exempt, or try to find any other way (if any). Good luck with it.

, You have to apply for your visa to the embassy/consulate in the country where you are staying. If they are on eVisa, you need to use eVisa system. If not, you have to go the embassy/consulate in person. You are supposed to provide the tickets to Thailand departure from that country. Tickets don't have to be direct flight(s). You can travel around before Thailand, but you should have the tickets covering all the way form that country to Thailand.

Hmm.. not sure if I understood. So if before I was in Portugal, where I have local registration (no visa needed in EU, passport from Estonia), while I've been in Bali during the pandemic time (for more than 6 months) and flying from Bali.. should I select Portugal as the 'residency' where it is applied from? Or Bali, where I would be flying from (where I am just as a tourist, with no local paperwork)?
