Do I need to leave Thailand to cancel my ED Visa after receiving a DTV?

Has anybody successfully cancelled an ED Visa after getting approved for a DTV? Exited Thailand with a Re-entry permit on an ED visa as a fail safe in case the DTV doesn't get approved. Got approved for a DTV then entered Thailand today stamped with the DTV. In planning to cancel the ED Visa in Bangkok, I requested for certification to cancel from the language school and they asked for the departure date. Similarly, most posts here suggested to cancel the ED visa first, depart and get the DTV.

My question: Do I have to leave Thailand again when I get the ED visa cancelled and re-enter with the DTV, again? TIA.

***Update, already processed the cancellation. Wasn't told I had to leave but then again they didn't say anything except hand the passport back. Unfortunately everything is in Thai and there's no "Cancelled" stamp. Anybody else have been through this process yet and can share what a right cancelation stamp should look like?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has successfully processed the cancellation of their ED Visa after receiving approval for a DTV. They initially exited Thailand on a re-entry permit while waiting for the DTV approval and upon re-entering Thailand with the DTV, inquired whether they needed to leave Thailand again to officially cancel the ED Visa. Users in the comments suggested that the ED Visa may have been automatically canceled when the DTV was stamped in. The user noted they received no specific cancellation indication on their documents, leading to further questions about how cancellation should be confirmed.

Since you can't be on two active visa at the same time, your ED Visa should be automatically been canceled already at the moment they stamped you in with DTV.

I'm not sure about that. All other comments on this forum says it has to be cancelled in the immigration office, not doing so can potentially be fined. Also checked the extension stamp and reentry on the passport, nothing indicates they are cancelled.
