TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster (OP) inquired about the need to cancel their Ed visa before leaving Thailand, which is valid until July. Responses from the community suggest that it is advisable to formally cancel the Ed visa before departure to avoid any complications upon return. This can be done by obtaining a cancellation letter from the school attended and submitting it to the Thai Immigration office that issued the visa.

And I believe that the OP has the answers needed for his question.

He has choices to make and we wish him success in his planning to return to Thailand next January.

What is your plan for returning to Thailand?

Are you married to a Thai or Father of a Thai child?

IF you are planning to return to Thailand, get the Ed Visa cancelled before you leave Thailand.

You will need to get a letter from your school to the Thai Immigration office stating that you are ending your Ed Visa course of study on xxx date. Take it to the Thai Immigration office WHICH ISSUED YOU the Ed Visa STAMP in your passport to cancel the Ed Visa.

if you are unable to get the Ed Visa cancelled before you leave Thailand, Suggest you apply with your home country Thai Embassy or Consulate for a Thai Visa before you return to Thailand next January.

And if you are able to get the METV multiple entry tourist visa in your home country Thai Embassy or Consulate, get it. It can get you up to 9 months stay in Thailand with a few simple LAND BORDER BOUNCE entries. Good Luck ๐Ÿ€

still is important to cancel the Ed Visa if you are going to Apply for another Thai Visa in Thailand.

You can ask for re-entry at the airport

Are you in the first 90 days of the Ed Visa..??

Or on an extension of stay of 90 days?
