How can I transition from a non-ED visa to a DTV in Thailand after cancellation?

Has anyone successfully gotten their DTV approved after canceling the non-ED visa? I am 2 months into my non-ED, and DTV was not yet issued back then. I have been working remotely for a UK firm while living in Bangkok. How do you transition from non-ED to DTV?

Non-ED Visa will auto cancelled when you leave from Thailand to other countries unless you stamped re-entry.

And then you can apply DTV with require documents and Bank Statement from Thai Embassy at Cambodia or Laos or Myanmar.

If you leave without re-entry permit it will be cancelled when you leave - same for all non-multi entry visas

You say you are two months into an ED visa

if you are still on that original 90 days from the visa you just leave.

Anonymous participant you don’t need to cancel it. It’s canceled itself when you leave the country. I did the same.

This isn't correct. In order to formally cancel an EDU visa, you or your school needs to file the cancellation at immigration. You can leave without cancelling but it can create complications with future visas and there's also a fine.

That's cool that you didn't have any problems. I've heard others leave on an ED visa without cancelling and having no issue as well. However, immigration does clearly state that it's up to a 20k baht fine + banned from future long-term visas if they're not informed of cancellation prior to exiting the country.
