65k per month and date of deposit question. For a non-o retirement visa requirement. Does the monthly deposit have to be exactly on the 1st of the month? My 12 month extension is on May 19th. Is it okay to have the deposit between the 1st and the 18th of each month?
Answer summary
For a Non-O retirement visa in Thailand, the monthly deposit does not have to be exactly on the 1st of the month. The requirement is to have an international money transfer of at least 65,000 Baht each month for the previous twelve months. While it’s advisable to make the transfer around the same time each month for consistency, deposits made between the 1st and the 18th of the month are generally acceptable, as long as the transfer is completed within the month. Immigration offices may have differing preferences, but typically, the exact timing of the deposit should not lead to denial of your visa extension.

that is good point for retired military. Some months would be skipped if the first fell on a weekend then the payment goes to the Friday preceeding

US Social Security direct deposit comes to everyone on the 3rd. I've used it 5 years.

Donald Crawford what do you mean on the third. Payment is based on day of month born. I receive mine on second Wednesday every month direct deposit

Matthew Plymale John is correct. If your address is out of the country everyone gets it on the 3rd regardless of your assigned date in the US

Matthew Plymale if your address is in the US, u will recieve it the way u are now receiving it. If your address is in Thailand u will recieve it on the 3rd. Read the handbook for US Xpats. Also, if your address is in the US u are bucking the system as u do not have to do the proof of life form. Cheating the system.

As John Stanners stated avoid the first or last few days of the month in case there are any problems and it slips into the wrong month (I speak from personal experience). I would transfer a few days before your extension (something like 10th of each month) to be safe.

It’s okay to make the transfer any day. So long as the twelve transfers were done after extending your previous visa.

Any day of the month

My deposit varies as my Social Security pays out on the fourth Wednesday of the month and the fourth Wednesday doesn't always fall on the same day. Never had a problem with Immigration. Maha Sarakham Immigration is so easy.

Mine was the 3rd Wednesday until I changed my address to Thailand and then it changed to the 3rd of the month

Tim Cooley that is strange because they go by your birth month. I am 28 Dec so they went by 4th Wednesday of the month.

What I did for my retirement visa opened a Thai bank account deposited 800,000 baht and leave it in the bank account will pay a little tax and produced a little interest. Then it doesn’t matter about a monthly income. Hope that helps.

Nigel Tucker Hi a cash deposit in 1 or 2 times is ok ? Will the bank or immig question how that money arrived ?

Jenny Cha An international transfer is not a requirement for an Extension of Stay application, just the two months seasoning prior to submitting the application

Jenny Cha no all they need to is a Thai bank account with 800,000

I do try and time my transfers around the 1st of the month whenever possible for 2 reasons. First so that its consistent and also because i want to verify that my transfer came, via wise, as an international transfer coded correctly on my statement, otherwise, as previously stated can be anytime during the month.

I would avoid the beginning or the end of the month. All it takes is for the money to arrive a day early or a day late and it won't count for the month

excellent advice. I have one payment that goes into my bank back home around the middle of the month and three more that go in on the third last banking day of each month. Rather than trying to get a transfer through during that very tight window at the end of the month, I always wait until a few days into the following month. That way, if there’s a problem, I have the better part of a month to sort it out, but never had to. Lately, global money transfers have been going through extremely fast. Sometimes faster than it takes to log out of one banking app and into another.

Excellent point.

The requirement is that you have the minimum international transfer every month for the previous 12 months. The date of the transfer does not matter, it just needs to be within the month, for 12 months. Some immigration offices do like to see it around the same time each month, but they are not likely to deny the extension only based on that.

Aren't there limits on WHERE the funds come from ? And isn't it necessary to have a lifetime income ?

e.g. I know, for a U.S. citizens social security is OK, but I believe other similar sources, like say pensions from elsewhere, are not necessarily OK.

Alan Rothwell Hua Hin Immigration are not interested in the source of the Income only that 65k+ arrives as an International Transfer each and every month for 12 months.

When you say "where" I assume you are talking about international. It must show as an international transfer. Anything beyond that is up to the individual immigration office. Some might request to see proof that it's retirement income, like a pension statement etc, and others don't care beyond the bank statement.

Alan Rothwell I had to show my UK bank statements and highlight my regular income sources. I also had to explain where the income came from but they accepted rental income along with my pension.
