I got my yearly renewal visa as married to a Thai at chaeng watthana yesterday. Do I still have to keep 400,000 baht in my account for a period of time or can I go below that amount.

TLDR : Answer Summary
After renewing your marriage visa in Thailand, you are not required to maintain the 400,000 baht in your account for the entire year. You can use the funds as needed; however, you must ensure that the money is back in your account at least two months prior to applying for your next yearly extension.

Nope, no requirement to keep any amount in that account after you get the year inked in

You can drain it dry ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

As long as you get 400K back in 2 months before you apply for your next yearly extension you're fine

Congrats (y)

Edited to show it's 2 months before you apply for the next extension, thanx

Tod Do we need to show a 6 month lease for the next 1 year extension?

@Konrad **********
that is between you and the immigration office you're getting your extension at. It varies by office some require a year lease some 6 months, some even less ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

wait, the 400k baht requirement is annual? I was under the impression it was only required for the original visa, and renewals weren't so stringent. ๐Ÿ˜‘

that would be a false impression to be under, ๐Ÿ™

For banked money method to meet the proof of funds based on marriage to a thai.

You need to show the 400K baht in a thai bank account in your name only to get the initial 90 day Non-O visa issued

THEN

it needs to be in the account for 2 months before you apply for the yearly extension

AND

every subsequent yearly extension you get has to have the 400K baht in the thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you APPLY for the next yearly extension

, you need to meet financial requirements every time you apply for a 1-year extension, too.

good to know. Just wish I didn't need to remit that amount of money. Gonna probably need a tax advisor...

@Ryan *****
I just leave the money in the bank because I donโ€™t want to deal with remembering to remit etc

yeah I'll do that going forward

before you "apply" for the next yearly extension.
