TLDR : Answer Summary
A user who has been approved for a Non-O retirement visa is concerned about having to notify the London embassy after ordering a new passport due to damage. Commenters advise that the user can use the new passport upon entering Thailand, and will need to go to Immigration to transfer the Non-O visa stamp from the old passport to the new one. It is also suggested to inform the consulate that issued the visa about the new passport.

You can use your new passport to enter Thailand. Once you arrive, go to Immigration to transfer the Non-O visa stamp from your old passport to your new one.

Thailand isn't keen on damaged passports so as well you got a new one. At a guess I'd say it's going to depend on just how damaged the old one is. I'd suggest explaining the situation to the consulate that issued the visa and see what they say
