What steps should my husband take upon entering Thailand with a new passport on a Non-O visa?

My husband is currently back home in the UK. He’s applying for and will receive a new passport.

He’s on a non-O “Thai wife” visa and has a valid multiple reentry permit.

Can someone help to guide what the steps might be upon entering Thailand with said new passport - any additional forms to fill at immigration or prior to arrival in Thailand?

Advise about transferring his visa over once in Thailand would also be much appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking guidance on the steps for their husband, who holds a Non-O 'Thai wife' visa and a valid reentry permit, to enter Thailand with a new passport. Commenters advise that he should bring both old and new passports, as no additional forms are needed for entry. At immigration, he needs to show the old passport with the valid visa and reentry permit, ensuring the correct entry stamp. After entering Thailand, he should visit the local immigration office to transfer the stamps from the old passport to the new one using the 'TRANSFER STAMP TO NEW PASSPORT FORM' and provide an updated TM30. It's suggested he also update his new passport number with local banks and the Department of Land Transport (DLT).

Thank you everyone!

His old passport has a valid reentry permit. Visa and reentry were done in early December before an unexpected trip back to the UK. And while he’s home he thought of getting a new passport as the process locally is easier/faster than renewing in Bangkok.

just make sure to get the old one back & bring both!

**Definitely show both to the immig. Officer when you enter - he does nottt want a tourist exempt stamp in the new passport or that will be a whole new debacle to deal with!

I hope he has a reentry permit, or his visa will be null and void, and he will have to start the visa process again.

He does .... says so in the post!

Entry shouldn't be an issue just go to immigration and have stamps transferred, I did mine at Chaeng wattana and they required a bank statement dating back a year

you got your extension for retirement not marriage correct?

As a rule C/W only asks for a bank statement when you move a retirement extension to a new passport <- that's because of the long seasoning on the banked money method for that extension

I have not heard of Chaengwattana asking for a bank statement to move marriage extensions from one passport to another

Yes retirement extension and only 2 months validity remaining.

since everything is linked to the passport number, suggest to update new passport No at your bank and local DLT

great call. I didn't do my bank account that I hold my visa money in and it delayed me getting the paperwork for my next visa extension. I managed in the end but it would of been easier if I had updated when I got my new passport. 😊

No form to enter Thailand.

Bring both old and new passports to enter Thailand. Show a valid Non-O visa/extension with a re-entry permit on the old passport at passport control, and make sure to get the correct entry stamp matching as re-entry permit, on the same date as the valid stamp.

If he is already on a one-year extension, he needs to transfer stamps.

Once back in Thailand, go to the immigration that issued the current extension to apply for transfer stamps. Basically, he brings both old and new passports and updated TM30 to transfer stamps. There is a form, "TRANSFER STAMP TO NEW PASSPORT FORM", to transfer stamps at the local immigration office. But you need to check the detailed requirements at that immigration office.
