What should I do with my Non-O visa after renewing my passport abroad when re-entering Thailand?

Hello All.

I have a two part question. I have a Non-O visa (I extended my stay and live in Bangkok) and I renewed my passport while abroad. Wondering what to do when re-enter the kingdom? I assume I show the immigration officer my old passport with the Non-O stamp in it along with my new passport.

Then I go to Immigration Division 1 at Lak-Si to have them transfer the stamps (extension of stay and multi re-entry permit ) from the old passport to the new one?

Is there a specific location at immigration that I do this or do I go to the main information desk and ask them?

Thanks so much for your help.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When re-entering Thailand with a renewed passport, present both your old passport (with the Non-O stamp) and your new passport to the immigration officer. After that, go to the main immigration office at the government complex on Chaengwattana Road to transfer your stamps (extension of stay and re-entry permit) from your old passport to the new one. It is advisable to also update your TM30 form with your new passport number and ensure your bank book is updated if needed for your visa type.

I didn't tell him to update their bank account information I told him to update their Bank book and take it to the immigration office when they go to transfer the stamps.

You are correct, file the TDAC (Thailand Digital Arrival Card) online with the new passport number

Give both passports to the officer when you stamp in, they'll stamp you in on the new one and make a notation your extension/re-entry is in the old one.

File a new TM 30 under the new passport too

Then go to the main immigration office at the government complex building B on Chaengwattana Road and get the stamps transferred.

If you're in an extension based on retirement you need to update your bank book send present it as well when you transfer the stamps.

Transferring stamps are done in the same section you got you extension (marriage/retirement section L-1

I really appreciate your detailed reply to this. Very good info. The bank book update is also valuable as I wouldn’t have known. Thanks so much for all this.

in addition you'll need to update your phone ISP provider with your new phone number and take the confirmation slip to your Thai bank so that your passport number, name, and phone number, all match and are updated. Otherwise you risk temporarily losing your online banking abilities. You could choose to do this proactively, or wait until something glitches and you are requested to head down to the bank.

Oh. Very good to know. Thank you so much. But did you mean I need to update the phone company with my new passport number? I still have the same phone number as before. I assume I can go into a branch of my phone provider and do this? Let me know and thank you.

ANY thai entity that you deal with (bank, phone, cable, internet, hospitals you use, anything) go and update your new passport number once you get the stamps transferred.

no disrespect intended at all but this is a VISA advice group, not a "I got a new passport what do I do now" one 😮

sorry, let's keep it on topic.

Is updated bank book also required when transferring stamps for an extension based on marriage or is it just required for retirement extensions due to the requirement to maintain a minimum balance throughout the year?

Good question (y)
@Steve ********
Sadly I do not know that answer 😮

BUT

I believe that moving the stamps for marriage extensions would not entail updating the bank book as there is no balance that has to be maintained after the extension is granted

Thanks. That’s what I thought. I am going to do my stamp transfer to my new passport on 25th so I will report back afterwards. I will take my bankbook with me in case it is asked for so I am covered anyway.

that'd be great if you'd let us know. I wouldn't even let them know you HAVE your bank book with you (as they might ask to see if just because they notice you have it)

I will keep my bankbook up my sleeve ( not literally 😀) just in case but I won’t show it to them unless they ask for it. I am planning to do stamp transfer and 90 day report ( first in person report after overseas trip) in the same visit to CW so I have made a late morning appointment for the 90 day report and will go early and do the stamp transfer first. I have already submitted a new TM30 with the new passport number so I will see how it goes.
