TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster (OP) inquired about the necessity to inform immigration in Thailand if they decide to get married during their stay on a 6-month visa. Comments indicated that there is no requirement to notify immigration of the marriage; however, it was suggested that a change in visa may be necessary following the marriage to avoid living apart. Recommendations included applying for a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) to facilitate extended stays with border hopping. Additionally, a TM 30 form, notifying immigration of the resident address, is essential when staying at the girlfriend's residence.

As has been suggested, get the METV multiple entry tourist visa in your home country. It can get you up to 9 months stay in Thailand with a few simple LAND BORDER BOUNCE entries. Each one can be extended for 30 ADDED days at your local Thai immigration office for 1900 Thai baht.

AND I believe that the OP has the answers needed for his question.

How about you burn that bridge when you get to it

What 6 month visa medical reason visa are you thinking of applying for?

I'd say just get a 6 month METV <- multi-entry tourist visa from the thai consulate in your country before you come here, that will give you almost 9 months of stay in 60 day increments

You need to have a TM 30, Notification from House-Master, Owner or the Possessor of the Residence where Alien has Stayed, on file with immigration for your girlfriendโ€™s residence when you stay there.

Beware that your Border hops overland will be denied after the first two (apparently).

Id have thought youd want to inform Immigration of your marriage because youll need a longer visa based on that marriage- otherwise eventually youll be living apart.

@Russell *******
people are allowed two free 30 day visa exempt entries by land in a calendar year

There's no requirement to notify immigrations you got married unless you're going to use the marriage as way to stay here
