TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring whether they need to visit the immigration office for a 90-day report after returning to Thailand on a retirement visa. Commenters clarify that a re-entry permit is necessary to maintain the visa status, and upon re-entry, the 90-day count resets, which does not require any renewal process, but the user must report their address to immigration if staying longer than 90 days since the last entry.

and you can't go pay the 90 days.

I think you mean 90 day reporting. It will reset from your day of entry into country

yes so I have to report in April next year so if I come back end of March I won’t need to go to immigration office until 90 days from re entry

you're completely using the wrong term. You aren't renewing anything by doing a 90 day report. All foreigners staying in the country more than 90 days since they entered Thailand, regardless of visa type, must file a report of where they are living every 90 days with immigration. It doesn't extend, renew, or have anything to do with how long you can remain in Thailand. If you exit the country before 90 days, you don't need to file anything, and each entry starts the count over again.

You’d need to explain what your visa is. Is it a Non OA visa or a Non O Visa?

a non O give you 90 days not 1 year if you have satisfied the requirements for the Non OA then yes it's valid for a year. There is a desk at the airport where you can purchase a re-entry permit. I would politely suggest you speak with them show them what visa you have and they will advise accordingly

That’s not what I asked. They are both Non Immigrant visas.

Make sure you get re entry permit or you will have to start all over again.

yes I have one

Not quite sure what you’re asking here.

If you have a Non O retirement visa or extension off of one you need to have a re-entry permit to keep that allowed to stay until stamp alive.

If you have a Non OA visa (the initial year one) then it’s multiple entry so you don’t need anything to leave and return.

I have a question about a similar situation. I recently arrived and currently hold a Non-Immigrant Type O visa. I haven’t transferred the 800,000 THB yet, nor have I applied for the one-year extension. Now, I need to return home for a month or two and then come back. Am I eligible to apply for a re-entry permit in this situation?
Stuart *********
@Shai *******
You can apply for a re-entry permit but all that would do is keep your current allowed to stay date “alive”. If you won’t be returning by that date then the re-entry permit is useless.

@Stuart ********
I see. I thought that the whole 3 months start from the beginning. So I better transfer the 800K before going home to meet that 2-month bank requirement?

Thanks for the info

a reentry permit only keeps your 90 day visa active to the expiration date. You will have to return before that date or you will have to start over again.
