This is what most Thai immigration offices will require FIRST...the 30 days extension of stay.

Hi James, I'll be applying for the Covid extension in Koh Samui towards the end of my Tourist Visa 30 day extension (stamped for August 30th) but before August 24th. How often have you heard the need for "Embassy Letter or Proof that your embassy does not issue the letter"? Also, what exactly is the "Embassy Letter" called or for? I'm from the United States. Thank you in advance.

The US Embassy does not issue the letter for the COVID extension anymore.

Most Thai immigration offices know that.

we didn't apply for extension. We entered with a 60 days TR visa. But I guess that's the same...

Most offices will make you take your regular 30 day extension BEFORE they let you apply for a covid extension. All you can do is go ask your office if you can get it without the 30 day.

ALSO it's up to the office if they start the covid extension the day you apply OR add it to your existing stamp. SO the people you need to be asking about this are the officers at your immigration office that serves the area where you're staying.
