TLDR : Answer Summary
To extend a 60-day TR visa in Thailand, you can typically request either a 30-day extension or a 60-day extension related to COVID-19. While many immigration offices will start with a 30-day extension, some may allow you to apply directly for a 60-day COVID extension. The basic requirements for both types of extensions include your passport, copies of relevant pages, a TM30 form, application forms specific to the office, and potentially a letter from your embassy regarding travel restrictions. Fees and specific requirements may vary by immigration office.

As mentioned above, many offices would let you apply for 30days extension first. Some give you 60days covid extension first no problem. But a few immigration offices would let you apply for 60days covid extension first only if you signed the paper mentioning that you would give up the normal 30days extension. Be ready for any cases.

Likely the officer will give you the 30 day extension first, you can ask for the 60 day, but no guarantee they will grant it to you first.

That depends on the immigration office. Some require the 30 day extension of stay based on tourism, while others let you jump straight to a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19.

The 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19 and the 30 day extension of stay based on tourism have the same basic requirements. Here's the list of the requirements (with the difference being noted):

Different immigration offices have different requirements, but all require the following:

1. Your passport and:

a. a copy of your data ("picture") page

b. a copy of your most recent visa (if you have one)

c. a copy of your most recent stamp

d. a copy of your departure card

2. A TM30, filed in the immigration office.

3. The application forms (each immigration office *may* have different forms)

4. [COVID-19 extension only!] A letter from your embassy saying you can not return, OR a print out from your embassy saying they don’t issue the letters.

5. 2x passport pictures [some may require only 1 picture]

6. 1,900 THB.

Different immigration offices have different policies. *SOME* may require:

- The ID card of the property owner where you are staying

- Copies of *ALL* stamped pages in your passport
