Hi, My husband and I are considering to apply for the OA Visa but I am over 50 and he is not. Do we require Each 800,000 Thb or combined ? Is it better to apply this in my home country(Singapore) but my husband is not from Sg or is it easier to get it in Thailand once you arrived on a tourist visa? Thank you for all the answers. It would help me sort out the finances before applying.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The applicant over 50 requires 800,000 THB in their name for the OA Visa, while the dependent spouse does not need to meet the financial requirement but must apply for a Non-Immigrant O visa based on being the spouse of the applicant. It's recommended to apply for the OA Visa in Singapore rather than in Thailand due to the regulations, as the husband cannot apply for the OA Visa directly since he is under 50. Once in Thailand, the applicant can convert their visa, but starting the application in their home country is preferable.

Yes but i read that they require another 800k for the applicant and i have not read this anywhere else. From Royal Thai Sg :'9. In the case that the applicant wishes to have his/her spouse stay together in the

Kingdom but the spouse is not qualified for the O-A code visa on his or her own, the spouse may be eligible to apply for Single-Entry Non-Immigrant O-visa. Required documents are the same as required documents for Non-Immigrant O-A-visa plus marriage certificate (Note: A copy of bank statement has to show the amount of another 800,000 Baht (or equivalent) in addition to the applicant’s initial amount). Civil partnership certificate is not acceptable.

I saw that too, which is strange seeing as your husband ISN'T over 50 and wouldn't be getting the visa based on "retirement" but on the fact that they are married to a person who has a long term visa for thailand. That type of visa doesn't require any financial proof :/

I would say, YOU get the Non-O-A, and your husband get a single entry tourist visa. Then you come here and he applies for the 90 day Non-O here at the immigration office based on being married to you (someone who holds a long stay visa). That doesn't require financial proof.

Either that or you both come here on tourist visas and apply together for 90 day Non-O's one based on being over 50 and one based on being married to someone over 50 and is going to retire here.

@Je**
It is not difficult for a Singaporean citizen to apply for the year-long, multi-entry Non-Immigrant Type O-A (Long Stay) visa at the thai consulate there.

Apply for the Non Immigrant O based on being over 50 years for yourself, apply for the Non Immigrant O based as dependent for your husband. Make your way into Thailand, open a bank account deposit 800.000 Thb in the bank as soon as possible and 30 days before your Admitted to Stay period ends you apply for an Extension of Stay based on being over 50 years of age for yourself and an Extension of Stay based as dependent for your husband.

How many times I have to say NO, YOU CAN NOT apply for a Non Immigrant O-A Visa in Thailand. Stop concerning about money, read the advice given.

Should we apply for tourist visa 60 days and apply in Thailand the OA ?I am really concern that they might ask for 800K+800K.

Jean Nube, your husband is not over 50 years of age, so he can NOT get a visa based on being over 50 years of age. And you can not convert your visa into a Non Immigrant O-A visa in Thailand.

Hi, Thank you for your comments. I read that the dependent for OA visa requires the same documents as well as funds as the applicant. I was wondering if this depends on the country's embassy? If it is easier to process this in Thailand, we will get a Non Immigrant O visa based on being over 50 and then convert that in Thailand. I hope they do not require 1.6 million baht in the bank account.

As a dependent your husband doesn’t need to meet any financial requirements. The 800,000 baht or equivalent will need to be in an account in your name only.

In Thailand you can only apply at the Immigration Office for the Non Immigrant O visa based on being over 50 years. If you like the Non Immigrant O-A visa you need to apply in Singapore before you make your way to Thailand. As your husband in younger than 50 years he wil not meet the requirements of this Visa. He can apply for the Non Immigrant O visa as your dependent.
