Hi Guys! I'm very excited to be going to Thailand. I leave Jan. 23rd to Chiang Mai and plan to stay in Thailand for the first 3 months if I can before going to Bali or the Philippines.

I heard the multi entry tourist visa is the way to go. But it says you need to show that you make $7k/m for the last year I believe. I can't show that. But I can show I at least have that much in my bank account. Would I still be able to get it?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user plans to stay in Thailand for three months and is considering applying for a multi-entry tourist visa. They are unsure if they can obtain this visa since they cannot provide proof of earning $7k/month for the past year but can show that amount in their bank account. Community members suggest checking the requirements at the Los Angeles Thai Consulate and consider a single-entry tourist visa instead, which may require a lower bank balance. There is also discussion about the inability to work on a tourist visa and suggestions for destinations after Thailand.

What do you want? you like to come to Thailand for maximum three months IF you like it, within minutes you start to ask questions how can I extend my stay and where to go in the area to buy new visa's.

It becomes time to relax, think again and start all over again.

If you want to come to Thailand for holiday apply for a Tourist Visa and after your holiday you go back home and do you daily life things.

If you plan is to stay as long as possible in Thailand start looking at the long term visa options that fits also the purpose of your stay.

becareful if your planning on working. They already issued a warning of their intentions. I wouldn't be going anywhere near one of those co-working spaces

Not Thai visa related but keep an eye on the news. It looks as if US citizens will require a visa to enter the Phillipines any day now.

If you want to stay 3 months, you should get a Single Entry tourist visa. You'll need to show a bank statement of about $800 USD or thereabouts (depending on the consulate).

A single entry tourist visa allows you stay in Thailand for 60 days, which can be extended by another 30 at the local immigration office for 1,900THB

Look at the Los Angeles Thai Consulate list of requirements for the visa you want. Meet the requirements and get the visa.

thanks James. So I heard sometimes they don't check that you've made $7k a month. Do you think I could get the multi entry by just applying for it?
