My toddler over stayed his tourist visa due to appointments not being available at immigration for extensions.

Is it 500 baht a day for every day over for children?

And could any possible fee’s be waived due to appointments not being availablewith immigration?

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The general consensus in the community is that toddlers in Thailand are not subject to overstay fines. Many users pointed out that children under a certain age (commonly cited as 14 or 16) are exempt from fines related to visa overstays. There were clarifications that it is advisable to leave the country and re-enter rather than extend a visa for young children. There were also discussions regarding the necessity of appointments for immigration services, with several users asserting that walk-ins are permitted, despite occasional reports of specific offices requiring appointments.

How old is your toddler?
Robert *****
Yeah, you would think that during Covid and doing a mandatory 10 days in Pragam 9 hospital, locked inside on the 11th floor, you could bring a Doctors note to the Airport to explain your 6 day overstay……..BUT NO…….

6,000 baht please and a funny looking stamp…..for both of us.

That's not the procedure if you were in a hospital. The airport isn't even capable of doing anything but issuing a fine.

yeah, I figured that out…555

Your ‘toddler’ travels alone?

Did a visa extension 3 weeks ago, no appointment necessary. In and out in 30 minutes.

You dont need an appointment anywhere you can just walk in. You can make appointments in Bangkok but doesnt really make much difference that i can see

No kids don’t get fined your toddler can stay until he becomes 15

Why should people always be out at the last minute. Then you actually have to blame yourself

well.. we tried going into immigration 2 weeks early. Got turned away and they said he needed a appointment. The website then said there were no appointments until October. So Last minute thing doesn’t really apply

Always walked in but that is in Issan.

If I recall correctly, kids are actually exempt from overstay fees up to 14 or 16, but do need a valid visa for long-term stay... most often the education extension.

I would advise your toddler to get a grip and make sure they book their appointments earlier..

the one in Bangkok sent me away and said he needed a appointment.

then you went to the wrong office. Chaeng Watthana doesn't require appointments. You go in and get a queue number.

Toddlers no fine. Me, overstaying 90 day's report with 2 day's on the other hand had to pay 2000 B Cash.
Stephan ***********
@Per-Olof ***********
Well... 2 days too late means 9 days after due date... so...😁
Graham ******
@Per-Olof ***********
Not doing a 90 day report does not put you on overstay, you just get a 2000B fine for reporting late so, in your case, you shouldn't have reported because once you're late the fine does not increase. Report late next time and it's another 2000B.

First time in my 28 years here in Thailand , hoped that I had some credit but nope.

You not need a apointment to extend a visa. Just go to the immigration. There are only a limited number of apointment slots available.

we tried that and got turned away. They said we needed a appointment

Which office? Never heard of needing an appointment for an extention of stay.

Imho, toddlers are not fined at all

“My toddler” suggests that they are not over 14. If so then there is no issue with overstay. They cannot be fined or banned from Thailand for overstay.

Until they get to school age and you want them to get an education visa then all you do is leave the country and re-enter to be on a clean stamp to apply.
