Question for Australian DTV holders who applied in AUS.

When applying do you need to actually book a flight to Thailand to show the booking ticket? Is it a requirement…

Or can you just show an intended flight number and date you wish to visit Thailand instead?

Cheers

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a DTV visa in Australia, you do not need to have a confirmed flight booked. An intended flight number and date are sufficient, according to several expats who have gone through the process. Multiple commenters confirmed that providing an expected flight does not affect the approval of the visa. Additionally, the conversation touches on related topics such as the Thai e-visa application process, issues with selecting the correct application location, and requirements for obtaining a Thai bank account linked to different visa types like the LTR visa.

I used a jetstar flight number from their website, doesn't matter and mine wasn't approved until a day after expected travel date anyway :)

When applying on the Thai e visa website, I am from Adelaide however when filling in the details online, it only has Canberra and Sydney in the ‘apply at’ drop down box. Does this matter which one I choose?

Canberra. Sydney is for NSW only - Canberra is the rest of Australia

where does it show that you must have a Thai bank account to obtain the LTR VISA ?

Make an application for the LTR VISA using the Thai Board of Investment website application.

Once Approved... then you meet the BOI staff in their Bangkok office and they do the final steps including walking you to the Thai Immigration office to have your LTR VISA STAMP placed in your passport.

Once it's approved then when you arrive into Thailand and have your LTR VISA placed in your passport

There's not a single Thai visa from a Thai embassy that requires a Thai bank account.

Do you actually know what the LTR visa is? You have to go through a long application process with the BOI before anything.

I didn't have flights booked, and ended up leaving Aus a month later than my intended date on application. It's not an issue

Intended is fine. Just don’t choose a date to far away as you may wait longer for your application to be processed
