TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a Thai visa, you can include a flight number for your intended travel without having to book a ticket first. Various experiences shared indicate that applicants often simply state an intended flight number based on available options. However, in some instances, embassies have requested evidence of a booked ticket instead. It's advisable to check the specific requirements of the embassy you are applying through, as practices may vary. Overall, using a dummy flight number often suffices unless explicitly stated otherwise.

In London asked me not just the number, but a proof of the purchase of the ticket from the airline. I bought my ticket before applying (I applied 2 weeks ago)

Is it necessary to be from you “current location” to Thailand? Or can be any location to thailand? Need to pack bags for 5 years right? 😂

You will need to send of your e-ticket for a one way flight at least

If you don't send it They will ask for it

Even if you put intended date already

We applied through London Sept 2024 and only put our intended flight and were approved.

Flightnumbers are like busnumbers, they tell the route, but not the exact date and time, so like the intended dates, you can easily put in flightnumber, without buying a ticket.

London wanted the exact e-ticket which you have to compress the PDF slightly as the embedded security means it doesn’t upload.

London wanted the actual ticket from the airline website so not just a number, when you look at what DTV gives you against other visa options, tying huge sums of money in bank accounts it is well worth ensuring that you comply with all requirements from the relevant embassy.

this is the first time I have seen it required by any Thai Embassy or Consulate to have proof a ticket has been purchased.

What was the proof you submitted?

Normally a date and flight ✈️ number is all needed.

Go to the airline website and pick a flight number on the day you chose. They just want to look at the route. No need to buy the ticket

When I applied in London in my application I said I intended to fly within the week

The embassy requested the actual ticket from the airline to show it had been paid for.

I saw that as a great sign of potential approval so I booked the ticket and uploaded it. Couple of hours after uploading the DTV was approved

Los Angeles Consulate did not require anything more than a flight number and date. No tickets….

I'm planning to use the LA Consulate as well. Any idea if this consulate is friendly towards DTV applicants?

I did not have any difficulties with them.

They did want to see photo of actual bank balance, not the screen shot from my phone. No seasoning was required. I did have a LOT more in the account than the minimum requirement.

It took about 2 weeks for a request for more information and another 2 weeks for the approval.

You will need to prove you are actually in their service area. I did this by turning on my maps app on my iPad and laying my driver’s license next to it and taking a picture with my iPhone.

Also make very very sure your name passport number and dates are correct. Their machine has trouble with the passport data page and makes mistakes reading it.
