Hey guys,

I wanted to ask, when applying for the DTV visa, are you suppose to have booked your flight and accommodation before hand?

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for the DTV visa in Thailand, it seems that a flight booking is not mandatory, as some applicants have successfully received their visas without having booked their flights beforehand. However, you will still need to provide your flight information and an address where you plan to stay. Some users noted that they listed their accommodation even if it wasn’t booked yet, while others provided a verifiable address such as a condo contract. Overall, it is important to have a plan for your stay, but strict booking rules may vary.

I show them my condo contract.

I listed accommodation as I knew it, but I put down "Have not booked yet" for my flight and just got approved in Hanoi

aw nice man. Wish I had the option of "not booked yet", but it looks like I need to book my flight before I can obtain the DTV

Anonymous participant Yeah different consulates seem to require different things

In my case, they never asked for proof of the flight booking and accommodation booking, I just wrote that information on the eVISA online application. Though I did book a flight and accommodation, I suppose that I could have still been approved by not making those bookings and just made up the information

I feel you, I'm applying from the UK and as part of the DTV process they requested travel and accommodation visa. They didn't ask for proof of flights but arrival/ departure date and accommodation name. I thought it would make sense to get that after my visa is approved
Maia ********
Immigration wants a verifiable address of where you plan to stay. You can book a better place after your DVT comes through.

Maia Kyrissfunny I have mine in my hand so again you're talking garbage πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

you do realize that different embassies are stricter that others, right?

Take your terrible "advice" somewhere else, bub. You are just going to get people denied by telling them they don't have to follow the rules simply because you didn't get caught lying on your visa application.

By the way, you should really stop abusing the visa application system. It's a bad look for everyone that is on a DTV. It's a new thing that is already politically contentious. We don't need people like you ruining it for the rest of us ✌️

thanks for the response. When applying from the UK, it ask for my travel and accommodation information when requesting a DTV. I was hoping to get the DTV first before booking flights and accommodation

Anonymous participant they want specific information about your flight, so yes you really have to book your flight before applying. Same with the address you provide them, but you can easily change that after you are approved, same with the flight. If you are this concerned about it, you should book a cheap place and a cheap flight that are fully refundable. That way, you do what you are supposed to do and if anything comes up you can cancel and get your money back.

If you want the visa, don't try to bend the rules about it. It will only make everyone on this visa look bad.

You have to provide your flight # (I'm pretty sure that's the flight info they wanted) and address for where you'll be staying.

thanks for the response. I'm confused because when applying for the DTV it ask for ' intended date of departure', but that's dependent on whether my DTV gets approved or not.
Kirstin *******
Anonymous participant you can book a refundable hotel on Agoda and make sure to book a flight that allows you to make a change to push the date out. For US - Washington, it took a total of 15 days. I'm not sure where you're located, but I'd give myself at least 3 weeks for visa application processing. The anticipated arrival date doesn't have to be exact either.
Kirstin *******
I also saw you mentioned the departure date below - just pick something before the 180 days would be up from the time of your arrival.

appreciate he wisdom and support Kristin . Defo going to take your advice about a refundable hotel, is Agoda the best way to go?
Kirstin *******
Anonymous participant I like using Agoda and have done cancellations before with no issue. Some options you are charged right before you check in and others you can get refunded, as long as it's refundable. I'm sure there are other good ones too. Best to you. Blessings ☺️

I'm not sure I can submit my DTV app without providing travel and accommodation info. I've been looking at one way tickets because of how long I want to stay, but when applying it ask for intended date of departure ?
Maia ********
Anonymous participant be aware that the airline you use could require proof of onward travel before allowing you on the airplane. As I understand it, if asked for, you don't need to have an actual ticket out of thailand, just have it booked and show them the confirmation of that at the gate. I've seen several people on here share that they were asked at the gate, while many others weren't. I would err on the side of caution.

Here is an easy and cheap way to make sure it all goes smoothly

Just check flights & input the approximate date you want to arrive.

I do actually have a 1-way ticket, but they don't ask you to provide or show the ticket.
