Can you reapply for a DTV visa after switching to a work permit and Non B visa in Thailand?

I see quite a few people on here have cancelled their DTV visas and transferred onto a work permit and Non B

Does anyone know after you do this- could you reapply for a new DTV visa let’s say after a few years (after you’ve worked for a few years in Thailand)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion centers on whether individuals who have transitioned from the DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) to a work permit and Non-B visa can later reapply for a new DTV visa after a few years of working in Thailand. Comments reveal a range of opinions, with some expressing skepticism about the future availability of the DTV visa, citing concerns over its longevity and possible cancellation by immigration authorities. Others point out that while canceling a visa is generally not possible, switching to another visa type or possibly applying for DTV again in the future may be feasible if the program is still active.

You can’t cancel a visa. You may be allowed to apply for another visa type that will supersede an existing one. For example if you have a DTV (for 5 years) you could apply for a Non B to allow you to work in Thailand for say 3 years and then go back to the DTV for the remainder.

You need to go back to the embassy that you apply for DTV visa and asked them to cancel it.

Knowing Thailand, the DTV won't be around for a long time. Maybe I'll give it another year, and then they'll shut down the program just like they shut down the 60-day visa on arrival. But I think the remaining visa holders will be able to use their visas until they expire. So don't plan for the future with the idea that you'll be able to apply for the DTV visa again in three or four years; I think it's unlikely.

60 day visa exemption is still going on. The reduction to 30 days was just recent talks and faced backlash.

It's still valid at the moment, but I heard that the hotel industry approached the government because they think that someone with the 60-day visa exemption is more likely to stay in a 5,000 baht a month apartment than book an expensive hotel room, and that's probably why they wanted to reduce it.

No one can predict the future when it comes to Thai immigration. The DTV might be gone in a year or be replaced by something else.

DTV visa was issued by the Embassy or General Consulate, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs designed the DTV visa programme. It has nothing to do with Thai immigration.

When you enter Thailand, it is up to Thai immigration to decide whether to grant you a visa stamp.

well then what are the rules of the DTV Visa currently present?.

Can it be reapplied for even if cancelled

Let’s say someone on here cancel their DTV and then got a job. They really didn’t like, could they stop the job and then go reapply for the DTV

Anonymous participant anyone can apply to any visa. But each embassy can make their own decisions to approve or deny the application.

So we could all speculate, but no one can answer that either. Someone might have already done exactly this and gotten the DTV, but that wouldn't change the fact that your application might be totally different and get denied.

You'd better keep the DTV if you don't think the potential job is for you.

If your visa was issued by Thai immigration, you must return to Thai immigration to cancel the visa with a valid reason.

If your visa was issued by an embassy that is under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. You must contact the embassy where you applied to cancel your DTV visa. Normally, they do not cancel your visa.

Furthermore, the DTV visa clearly stated, "Employment Prohibition". They do not allow DTV visa holders to find work in Thailand for a period of 5 years.

As I previously stated, the applicant must return to the embassy where they applied for the DTV visa because they are authorised to do so because they approved the applicant's visa.

It all depends on the embassy; they may reject your request. The worst-case scenario is that your future applications will be blacklisted.

You can try, and then share it with the group.

An immigration officer told me there might be a chance that they will cancel the applications for the DTV visa in a year or two ( depending on the illegal workers and criminals from certain countries)

Immigration own entry and extensions of DTV even though issued by MFA. Immigration have final say and the MFA site clearly states that. The FCCT interview with MFA official it was restated by the MFA official.

Thats true yet they ultimately they get thier orders from the big lady. Given the prime ministers maiden speech was about soft power I doubt very much anything will change until there is a change in government in 2027.

I cannot see a change unless there is widespread abuse and/or it becomes political.

This reminds me of the elite visa. Thaksin came up with it, the the next government got rid of it, then rebranded it and brought it back as thier own, we could see the same thing with this. Who knows what will happen. My bet will be changes after 2027

based on your information why wouldn't they do it now? Wait a couple of years to load up on criminals as you say doesn't make much sense.

What level was this immigration officer, was he in control of country policies?

And that is why I never believe anything from an " I got told in immigration......."
