Can I apply for a DTV visa while holding a non-B visa with an extension and work permit in Thailand?

Does anyone have any experience getting a DTV while still having a non b with extension and work permit?

I was planning on cancelling them before I leave to go to Vietnam to apply for DTV but the paperwork to cancel them the correct way didn’t come through in time.

I have seen some people say they have been approved for DTV while holding another visa and also some saying you can’t get approved while holding another visa.

It’s a risk to apply and get rejected and lose 10k but at the same time if I have to do an entirely new trip after cancelling my other visas once I return to Thailand it’s going to cost me more than 10k so I am weighing up the pro’s and con’s of applying anyway to try my luck. I will be applying in HCMC.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the experiences and concerns of a person planning to apply for a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) in Ho Chi Minh City while still holding a non-B visa and a work permit in Thailand. The individual contemplates cancelling their current visa and discusses the conflicting advice received from others regarding the legality and risks of applying for a new visa without officially cancelling the old one. Comments suggest that while it is generally required to hold only one visa at a time, there are accounts of applicants successfully obtaining the DTV without prior cancellation. However, some commenters caution about the potential complications during the visa application process related to previously held visas.

The school should cancel your work permit but if they don't it not nesacery. Your visa is actually tied to your school and work permit. So if you leave without a multi entry your visa is automatically cancelled regardless of your work permit. You are then free to apply for another visa. Same happened to me l returned on a visa exempt. Then the old school had to cancel my work permit before I could apply for another one. But if you are not teaching again no issue

Just have a good reason you’re not on your non-b anymore. It was asked for an interview and that seems like one of their primary concerns.

One person should have one visa at a time. It is their rule. If you want one and you must cancel previous one.

At the beginning time of changing Evisa system, they don’t request Visa history of the application.

Most application apply DTV without cancelling the previous Visa because Evisa is an external paper. If you wil not show DTV E-Visa in immigration, they will not stamp DTV.

But Now

Thai embassy in Vietnam, I heard if you have before visa, they ask why the reason of that cancellation visa. They will also request all visa page in your passport.

Even when you not show DTV at immigration, they can see the moment they scan your passport.
