Hey, I am wondering if anyone can help, as I am struggling to get a straight forward answer online.
On the 2nd Novemeber we are flying to Bangkok & hoping to stay between 60-90 days.
We hold a UK passport & are currently in Bali but will be flying into Bangkok from Perth.
When we are trying to apply for our E-visas with a UK address it says we need to visit the embassy in London, we are unable to get anywhere with the application when stating we are in Bali & then it is saying we need to get an appointment at the Thai Embassy in Sydney when we say we are coming from Australia..
I have also seen online that UK passport holders can enter Thailand with an "automatic 30 day visa" & can then extend the visa at any embassy in Thailand after.
If that is correct, are we able to get the 30 day visa on arrival when we land as we have a UK passport, or is this option not available to us as we are coming from Australia?
Thanks in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
UK passport holders can enter Thailand without a visa for up to 60 days as part of a visa exemption policy, regardless of their point of departure, including Australia. Upon arrival, travelers are stamped in for 60 days. If they wish to extend their stay beyond this period, they can visit any local immigration office in Thailand to apply for an extension of 30 days at a cost of 1900 baht. The original inquiry regarding e-visa complications can be resolved by choosing the exemption option instead of pursuing a visa through an embassy.

You get 60 days exemption when you enter Thailand with a UK passport. For whatever reason, if you are referred to the Thai embassy in London, you cannot go to the Embassy physically. Everything is done on line now. You register and apply on the Thai Embassy website.
You will get 60 days visa exemptions and when your about 45 days in go to thai immigration and apply for addional 30 days or jump the border into Loas, Myanmar, Cambodia or even Singapore than come straight back and get an addional 60 days on entry again.
thanks for your help. really appreciate the time & effort it took you to read the post & comment. people like you make the world a better place. all the best 🖕🏻🖕🏻🖕🏻🖕🏻🖕🏻🖕🏻🖕🏻🖕🏻🖕🏻
UK gets 60 days visa exempt ,before this finishes go to immigration office and full out the form for 30 day extension ,1900 bht each gives you 90 days 🙏🏽
Just turn up, you will be stamped in for 60 days then you can go to the local immigration office anout a week before your 60 days is up and extend your stay for a further 30 days.
You’ll need…
Your passport
A passport size photo (take 2 just in case)
2000bht fee
Fill in a form they give you at the office. Make sure you fill in both sides You’ll need all relevant travel info, address of where you’re staying, a contact number (preferably Thai) email address and passport information.
Make sure you fill in ALL the information requested otherwise they’ll send you back to the queue.
If everything is ok, they’ll ask you to go back later in the afternoon to pick up your passport.
Depending on where you are, expect a long wait. some idiots trying to push in and quite a bit of disorganisation from the officials.
With UK passports you’re entitled to a 60 days visa exemption and free stamp upon arrival no matter where you enter Thailand from.
Or else you can only apply for e-visa through the embassy/consulate where you currently stay. Indonesia still don’t use the e-visa system so you’ll need to make an appointment in person.
