Just wanted to get an update for an Australian passport holder. For visa on arrival, is it correct that you now can get 30 days free on arrival? Also, if need be, can it be extended for another 30 days in the country? TIA!

TLDR : Answer Summary
Australian passport holders can enter Thailand without a visa, receiving a visa-exempt entry stamp valid for 30 days. This can be extended once for an additional 30 days within the country for a fee of 1,900 baht. It's noted that online appointments for extensions may not be necessary, but it's advisable to have required documents ready, including the TM 30 form provided by accommodation and contact details of a local person for entry purposes.

Yes your visa exempt for 30 days as a Australian Passport holder.

If you're planning to extend your stay another 30 or so days it that can be done in Australia before you leave.

My recent experience maybe worth noting.

Dont waste you're time making a online appointment (it doesn't matter if you have a appointment or not.)

I had prepaid accommodation for the first few days the hotel should have given me a completed TM 30 form confirming that but failed to do so.

The Immigration officer just noted that. But her next questions were you need to supply contact name and address of someone privately in Thailand

Luckily I had my girlfriends details on me otherwise no entry

WTF ..

You pay your 1900 baht in cash only..no credit cards

Your given a number and when called go in show them you passport and completed form they weren't in return flight details but understand the airlines may !!

The Immigration office is on third floor it's in a huge building so give yourself plenty of time

The office closes at 12.00 for a 1 hour lunch break.

I was lucky i had a helpful officer if you get the wrong one you can be in for a long long bad day.

Let me sum up get your extension visa in Australia far less stuffing around.

Good luck.

Happy Travelling

Ya get stamped in for 30 days. Can go to Immigration and pay 1,900 baht for a 30 extension. After that, you need to make a border bounce for another 30 days. Not sure but after that, I think you can pay another 1,900 baht at Immigration for another 30 days

Just for clarification. Australians don’t get a visa on arrival. Certain nations like China and India among others pay for a visa on arrival.

Australians get what’s called a visa exempt entry. You have no visa, just a free stamp to stay for 30 days. And yes that can be extended once in country for a further 30 days for 1,900 baht.
