Answer summary
To qualify for Thailand's Digital Nomad Visa (DTV), having 1 million baht in your bank account alone is not sufficient. Applicants generally need to meet additional criteria, such as proof of remote employment, a stable income source, or documentation relevant to the DTV categories (e.g., soft power activities like Muay Thai training or cooking classes). Although the financial threshold can support your application, visa approval is case-by-case and requires proper documentation.

On the visa application, how do they verify the amount in your bank account? Are they contacting your bank? Are you showing a print out of your statements? I am in early research phase of visa application here. Thank you.

You might just end up with a 6 month METV not a DTV if you are only doing a 3-6 month course GL

You don't need an income.. they litteraly ask you how much is your income on the application and you can select $0 and Unemployed and still be eligible for DTV... how do I know? I got it this way.

You may, but uou will also need to sign up for muy thai, cooking lessons or some other soft power activity. Be prepared to do border runs every 6 months and return, or you will need to verify funds through immigration. Another option is the education visa. You can study Thai or a lot of other subjects. The educational visa requires a lot less money in the bank.

Having 1M baht helps, but Thailand’s Digital Nomad Visa usually also requires proof of regular income or employment. Your savings alone may not be enough. Check out Landscape for more related tips.

Apply for a soft power DTV. Enroll in Muay Thai or Thai language course. You fit the minimum 500,000 baht savings and you don’t need to show income under the soft power category.

Soft power 500k needed. Just book a long enough course. But what will you live on when that 1 million runs out ?

But how does your re-entry work when you have a soft power? Every time you re-enter you have to have evidence of a class sign up? Or you can just re-enter the country saying I attend an open gym that I have a membership at?

This condescending attitude… you’d be surprised how a bank balance doesn’t reflect real wealth, blood alcohol level doesn’t measure intelligence, and income stability isn’t proportional to some people’s massive salaries ;) Take your hate somewhere else, old man.

Yes lol.. Just get a DTV agent, super easy to find Russians to make all the paperwork for you for 15k then you pay the 11k visa fee.. They “handle the paperwork”, you just need to

Submit your bank statements and they take care of the rest.. Easy peasy.

You need to be able to show that you are employed with contracts etc. People who don’t have that but meet other requirements usually work with an agency who helps them with documents.

And show the regular income from it... That's the point. Or sign up to a qualifying "soft power" programme.

Having 1 million THB in your bank account alone does not automatically qualify you for the DTV visa.

For DTV (Destination Thailand Visa), the key factor is not just savings. it’s your eligibility under one of the approved categories (such as remote work for a foreign employer, digital nomad, or certain soft power activities).

In most cases, applicants must show :

1. Proof of remote employment or business outside Thailand

2. Stable income source

3. Required financial evidence (minimum funds threshold)

If you don’t have regular income or qualifying remote work, simply having savings may not be enough.

Each case depends on how you structure the application.

awful sales pitch 🙄 you don’t need 1M THB for a start, and what does ‘financial documents’ mean…..at least try to sound like you know what you are talking about if you are going to try and sell something…..

proof of remote work and funds in bank are the requirements. Social media clowns can suggest otherwise but you are wrong.
1640 ******************************************

@Nick ******
Proof of remote work can meet the basic requirement under the Workcation category.

However, applicants are still expected to meet the financial requirements and provide the necessary documents.

Final approval depends on the overall application and the embassy reviewing it, not just one document.

I’m simply pointing out that the decision is based on the complete application.

1640 ******************************************
1640 ******************************************
SereneParrot7873 Meeting the minimum financial requirement is certainly important.

However, visa approval is not based on funds alone. Applicants must also meet the specific eligibility criteria under the chosen category, and approval ultimately depends on the reviewing authority.

Each case is assessed individually.

soft power, not worcation. He just have to show 500.000.

Get your facts together
Luit *****************

SereneParrot7873 applying is always possible, but allthough there are no fixed defined income requirements, they will ask you to prove how you want to pay for your stay.

1 M is just 500k over the requirement for funds and 500k as income is by far not enough for 5 years.

@Gianluca *****
Yes, Muay Thai or Thai cooking courses may qualify under the Soft Power category of the DTV visa.

However, enrollment alone does not automatically guarantee approval. Applicants must still meet the official eligibility criteria, including financial requirements and proper supporting documentation.

Having 1 million THB in savings can help demonstrate financial capacity, but it is not, by itself, a guarantee of visa approval.

Each application is assessed case by case.
1640 ******************************************
1640 ******************************************
@Gianluca *****
Thanks for sharing your experience.

If you were asked to show 500,000 THB in a foreign bank account, that is actually considered proof of financial capacity.

In practice, some embassies may focus mainly on the minimum funds requirement, while others may request additional supporting documents. It can vary depending on the location and the time of application.

That’s why I always suggest applicants prepare their documents carefully to avoid surprises.
