I am an Indian passport holder. Can I go to Thailand Visa free for 60 days and then go to Laos or Hanoi to apply for DTV visa?

I heard I can only apply for DTV visa from my home country. Is it true or false for an Indian?

In case I can apply outside of my home country, Do I still need to get the latest bank statement stamped from my bank along with the financial reference letter?

What are the other documents I need to prep from within my home country?

PS. I will be applying through the workcation route and my goal is to train Muay thai.

TLDR : Answer Summary
An Indian passport holder can enter Thailand visa-free for 60 days and can apply for a DTV visa from countries like Laos or Vietnam, not just from India, contradicting the belief that applications must be made from the home country. Financial documentation requirements, such as having a recent bank statement, may vary by embassy, and while it's advisable to check with the specific embassy, many do not mandate stamped statements. Additionally, when applying under the workcation or soft power options, applicants should prepare documentation such as proof of training enrollment and financial statements to support their visa application.

Hey, I applied from India for myself and got approved within 4 days. Next applied for my wife and daughter as dependent and they got approved within 9 days.

I choosed Chennai embassy since I live in Bangalore and it costed me 25,000k each applicant fee.

I choosed workcation, submitted my US business licence, bank statement for 6 months and my YouTube channel details along with a cover letter explaining my financial status and reasoning for DTV application. I have travelled to Thailand over 16 times and never overstayed.

Application is very easy and simple. The only time they came back to was to upload a recent photograph of my wife. That's, we are moving to Thailand next month.

Congrats, bro! How long did you have the required funds in your account?

I was hoping to apply for the DTV from a nearby country like Laos, Vietnam, or Indonesia instead of flying back to India.

it's my business account, Funds are available from months. Having it for over a month if not few weeks is recommended by the embassy officers.

I heard Vietnam has a good success rate over Laos and Cambodia. Good Luck 👍

yeah many people have had success in Hanoi, Vietnam. Although not a single experience recorded from an Indian passport holder yer. I follow an Indian guy on YouTube and he mentioned that you gotta apply from your home country. A lot of mixed responses.

I am also planning to keep funds for 3 months. I think that would suffice?

Thanks for the help again.

You are either using the digital nomad workcation scheme or soft power option. If you intend to learn/train Muay Thai then it's soft power. You'll need to register and pay for your training to get the DTV paperwork from the training center you choose. Choose a center that can show you they have a solid history of dealing approved DTV acceptable activities. Be prepared to have the latest possible bank account details timed to the date you apply for the visa, you might also be asked to open your online banking at an interview to verify the funds are in your personal account and exceed 500k baht

1. Even though I am going there to train Muay Thai. I run an online remote agency. Which route has the best chances of getting approved?

2. If I get sponsored by the gym and they let me train for free. Will a letter confirming from them count?

4. I can print the bank statements from online but does it need to be stamped by the bank? For that I will have to come back to India

4. No sign/stamps necessary. Make sure the bank statement contain your full details including address.

Why not apply for the softpower option via Muay Thai? You can apply in Laos or Vietnam; Indians have been approved in embassies other than India so it is false you can only apply in India. You will need to check with the embassy you are applying from for the finanical documents needed, most do not require bank stamped statements.

also could you share any anecdotes or Indians who successfully got approved from neighbouring countries? I didn't see a single post from an Indian regarding that here.

I read a couple of days ago a post by an Indian just approved in Cambodia. It should be in the threads. Not sure what they will think if you apply for SP via a friend's gym and free training, it may raise a red flag. Workcation is ok to apply with. The key financial doc is the 500K THB statement, majority of applicants did not submit a letter of good credit. You can include it if you want.

thank you. Your comment cleared up a lot of my doubts. Even though I run an agency and have clients on a contractual basis, is it better to apply through soft power, and just show my earnings as income?

My gym may sponsor me and let me train for free so I won't pay (apart from accommodation n food) Will a letter confirming that suffice?

I heard some people say that a financial reference letter of good credit signed by the bank may improve your chances of getting the visa. Is that correct?

I think the only apply in India for Indians comes from a mix up with other visas such as "B". Last place I worked the Indian guy employed had to fly back to India to apply for a B. Could not go to Singapore etc like the rest of us.

@Greg *******
Ok..that may have stopped similar from applying.

Guy at work was happy. Free holiday home lol Renewal is fine in Thailand for the B but it was the initial one.

that makes it much easier to renew in Thailand

It was BOI so a 15 minute trip to one stop shop every two years. HR admin woukd take a queue number. Woukd come and get you to stand in front of one desk while IO checked your passport pic was you. Off to another desk for same and off you went. I miss those simple days - we'll it is why I pay an agent to do similar now.
