Let me know if it's possible to get a good visa for Thailand doing stock market investments. For now I am spending time outside Thailand. I think Thailand is clearly superior country with lots of very nice people. But also no government should decide how I invest my money. I sincerely hope stock market investments will soon qualify for long time visas for Thailand.

I would if I was younger. Next year I will be 50. So the plan is to apply for education visa when I get back. I consider all these processes pricey and very difficult. My money is better spend inside Thailand. Also I have read about people wanting to cancel their DTV, but can't do that.

It depends on the embassy applied to. If you search the group there are very few cases of people indicating that they applied doing stock trading. There are many people asking but not many confirmations. There are maybe five reports of success at the top of the search result. And three of them were applied to Jakarta. There might not be anyone posting about rejections because most people post about approvals. But just because no one is reporting about rejections doesn't mean that there are not embassies that don't approve of stock trading. I assume for the embassies that do accept, it depends how active your involvement is in managing your portfolio, whether it's your main source of income, and how much you actually make from it. I assume you'd have to frame it as being quite active, but I don't think you have to be a day trader, just that you have to be actively managing, such as research, analysis, risk management, etc. avoid being vague or ambiguous or making it a passive activity. But if the income is very small I don't think it will be very convincing. Don't try to make stuff up. If the activities are truly active and you can show that with tax papers and monthly statements I think you have a good chance at that embassy the other people applied to.

Don't forget that you also have to explain why you want to go to Thailand since remote workers can technically work from anywhere in the world, so they want to know why you want to come to Thailand. Also you're not allowed to work for local companies or clients, all income has to be made abroad outside of Thailand, so it's good to state that you understand this, because some people report embassies requesting additional documents confirming that you do understand.

Also people report that some embassies do not accept brokerage accounts for the proof of 500,000 THB if it's not cash. Some people report its acceptable in something like money market funds for US or UK embassies, but rejected at other embassies. But if you have a bank account with cash in it, I think that would be less problematic. If you choose to use money market funds, maybe an account that auto liquidates with the cash immediately available to withdraw when you use your debit card would have a better chance if you can explain or provide documentation from the broker about how the auto liquidation works.

Anonymous participant 441 There are definitely more than 5 approved via online stock investment. Some remove posts approval or after seeking advice.
