Hello, my family and I re-entered the country a few months ago on TR visas. This week I am switched back to Non-O visa connected to my work permit which was still valid from before. Unfortunately, Friday I was told at immigration that they will allow me to switch to Non-O but my husband and two children cannot switch to my visa until after an initial 90 days of me working. Then I can apply for a 6 month Non O extension and they can be my dependents then. Unfortunately... they can only get a 69 day tourist extension between now and then so there’s like a 30 day window where they have no visa options... anyone run into a problem like this? Anyone else not able to get their dependents on their visa?? My daughter and husband have the option to jump on a school visa for her if absolutely necessary (she’s 3) but I also have an infant with no options.
TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shared their experience about switching to a Non-O visa tied to their work permit, facing challenges in obtaining dependent visas for their husband and two children. They were informed by immigration that their family must wait 90 days after the user starts working before applying for Non-O visas as dependents, leaving them with limited options for a short period. Suggestions and experiences from other users regarding similar situations were requested.
