Do I need to change my daughter's education visa when assuming guardianship in Thailand?

My daughter is on an education visa, with my wife as the guardian (visa) . Will be changing my wife's name to my name to take over the guardian visa.

Do I have to change anything with my daughters visa, as she has had it for 4 years now, or can I just go to a relevant embassy (my choice Hong Kong) with the relevant documents and add myself as the guardian.

My wife has already cancelled the visa by exiting the country.

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is transitioning from their wife's guardian visa to their own. They are inquiring whether their daughter's existing education visa needs to be changed and if they can simply add themselves as the guardian when they visit the embassy in Hong Kong. Comments suggest that a new visa application might be necessary rather than just a name change, as well as clarifying the process for applying for a multi-entry visa upon entering Thailand.

OK thx.

So as long as my daughter doesn't have to be there in Hong Kong.

The other question.

I actually work in Hong Kong on a week on week off.

I take it as soon as I enter Thailand I could apply for a multi re entry visa.

Thanks

I found that too :/ , I didn't see where it says they issue a Non-Immigrant Type O visa based on supporting a foreign child enrolled in school here. :(

As simple as that ๐Ÿ˜.

Thanks for Info.

I will give them an email. Not that they bother to reply sometimes.

If not I will look at another option.

Appreciate your time.

I would certainly contact the thai consulate in Hong Kong because I just looked and didn't see the requirements to even get a 90 day single entry Non-Immigrant Type O visa based on supporting a foreign child in thailand.

Make sure they even issue that visa and that you know the documentation to take to apply for it if they do.

You'll get a 90 day single entry Non-O visa, and when you come in you'll get stamped in for 90 days.

IF you need to leave during that time you need to get a re-entry permit BUT it will not add any time to the 90 days you got stamped in for.

When you have 30 days or less left on that 90 day stamp you go to the immigration office and apply for a yearly extension by meeting the financial requirements and turning in the documentation they require to issue it. It will go under consideration for 30 days and then you go back to get the year extension inked into your passport and at that time you'd get a multiple re-entry permit which would allow you to exit/re-enter for the entire year.

you don't change a name on a guardian visa :/ You would apply for a new 90 day Non-O visa from a thai consulate with the documentation they require and then you'd apply for a yearly extension of stay based on supporting a foreign child here at the immigration office by meeting the financial requirements.
